I hope I'm not the only one who counts Ironclaw Munitions Factory as his favorite level in the game. I love having half the level be puzzle/coordination hazards as opposed to straight combat, weaving between rockets and using cover as needed. Also, the Twins are the most fun boss fight I've experienced in a long time.

There's one problem though: Nobody ever wants to run IMF. Not just because it's more difficult than the Royal Jelly Palace, but because the payout is so much smaller. A full RJP run via the mission nets approximately 3000 crowns, plus the jelly gems that can be traded in for the antigua and/or sealed sword, two of the most popular upgrade paths in the game. An Ironclaw run, on the other hand, costs the same energy (possibly more because it's harder -- revives, etc.) but only serves 2000 crowns if one is lucky. The lack of enemy numbers also means less materials drop. Finally, the boss token rewards are fairly lame aside from the Pulsar and maybe a Static Capacitor for bomb specs.

I would love to have more loot involved with Ironclaw Munitions Factory so people no longer think of it as a chore that's a bad economic choice. I hope I get others to support this -- it's a fun, smartly designed level that's different from anything in the game.

*reads title* Great, another person asking for a ner... Oh wait, this one's not bad :D

+1 to bring the CR/Heat output to ~= RJP.

It is a bit harder tbh, and should give around the same rewards as RJP. The main reason why the CR/Heat discrepancy exists is because where RJP spawns enemies, IMF has traps. One gives rewards, one doesn't :/

Also, you didn't say it explicitly, but it seems you were hinting about the value of the IMF tokens being raised somehow. Don't touch them.

I agree.

I agree. The IMF is my favourite run, because of it's unique level design. It's a crying shame it's rewards can't compare to RJP (which I've done so often I now throw up at the sight of jelly desserts).

In fact I really hope to see more of the puzzle/combat hybrid gameplay of IMF in future updates. I think putting the whole brain-teasing dimension on top of the regular hack n' slash made it a lot more fun.

I whole heartily agree!

Only thing I could add other than that is if they spawned red treasure boxes more frequently and in more places.
[or change to have current enemy spawns drop better crown-heat)

Agreed.

No reason for IMF to be less rewarding.

+1

It's about high time that thought-provoking puzzles are to be lauded, rather than having everyone turn to the killfest that is RJP.

IMF is hard?

I find the IMF incredibly easy. Which I guess is why the payout is less than the JK run (which i find a bit harder lol).
So yeah, it would be very nice if increased the payout a bit more, as it is rather terrible at the moment.

Wait, if they should change something in IMF they should fix the problem that everyone who enters receives free lag, no matter what computer you use.

+1 to Floipd How about

+1 to Floipd

How about instead of boosting the loot, lets make it lag free.

Hell, I've edited the files to see if I can remove the slightest amount of lag. I know editing the files is against the ToS but when some thing like that lags THAT badly, there is something wrong.

I made the shock grates just flash blue, I stopped the rockets from spinning and have a smoke ring and flash when they are shot, I removed the smoke/spark billows. Even on low and all those edits in place, it STILL lags horribly!

I also have a friend who owns a 600$+ video card, and runs Spiral Knights with AA on high, with zero lag anywhere but the Imf.

If there is any problem here, it's the lag.

...

He'd have to run it on High Graphics and AA 16x to get any lag..

My gaming card is like half that price and IMF doesn't lag much on high quality (Any more than 4x Anti-Aliasing starts to get lag though).

Just turn particle FX off, graphics and AAing down.

Well, for most players then,

Well, for most players then, with zero AA and on low, it is still pretty bad.

I remember when it first came out and there were tons of posts on the laggy area and OOO didn't do anything for it.

Technical Problems Aside...

There needs to be reduced lag in a LOT of places, not just IMF. Please keep the discussion germane to the topic at hand -- the lag is bad, yeah, but that should be in another thread. Even without the lag people wouldn't run it because of sheer efficiency.

"I also have a friend who owns a 600$+ video card"

Which is interesting, as nearly the only way to pay $600 for a consumer video card is to overpay for a card that should cost less than that. There are exactly four $600+ consumer video cards on New Egg right now, and in all four, you're basically paying for the waterblock. Maybe it's a very old card that cost $600 when new, but isn't so great anymore? The last single-GPU reference card to debut at $600+ was the GeForce GTX 280 about four years ago. And prices on that fell precipitously once the Radeon HD 4870 launched shortly after it.

If the problem is that IMF offers somewhat more loot than comparable levels, while jelly palace offers a lot more loot than comparable levels, then the solution is obvious: nerf jelly palace. Again. and Firestorm Citadel, too.

I run the game at 4x SSAA (which is far more demanding than what is presumably MSAA that you get from in-game settings) and otherwise max settings, with no noticeable slowdown anywhere, and that's on a card I got for $260 way back in 2009.

Spiral Knights is built on

Spiral Knights is built on Java. In java, once you begin to stack models and effects, it become laggy no matter what PC you're running it on. Don't believe me? Play RuneScape on a less-than-top end PC and you'll see how horrible Java lag can get.
