These are names that are either reserved for great spirals that have come before, are silly for a spiral to have, or are curse words in the spiral world. All the names of movie actors in our world just so happen to fall into these three categories in the spiral world.

- Spiral HQ allowed some spirals to skip missions before. They have vowed never to let the tragedy repeat itself. Now, all spirals must prove their mettle before getting assigned to difficult missions.
- Because sprials must acclimate to the pressure at each depth. The acclimation process takes a small amount of time. Failure to acclimate can result in serious injury or even death.
- The best weapons are forged in the hottest energy furnaces. Spirals have tried to use less energy, but lower energy weapons can't cut though sparse brush and break when the slightest stress is applied to them.
- A few gremlins tried to make spawners that spawn loot, but were quickly arrested for counterfeiting related activities. Now they know better than to attempt that again.
- Because silver keys are outlawed in the clockworks. In order for the vendor to get a silver key they must first purchase them from the gremlin black market. It's even worse for shadow keys, which are so hot that most strangers refuse to have anything to do with them. Those things typically have to be smuggled into haven though iron lockboxes.
