Hi, I'm not completely sure if this is in the right forum.
Anywho, I stopped playing Spiral Knights a while ago, but now I want to get back into it. And I'm kinda of struggling. Here's my loadout.
Armor: Magic Cloak
Helmet: Magic Hood
Sword: Calibur
Gun: Blaster
Shield: Defender
And this is what I want my loadout to be.
Armor: Chaos Cloak
Helmet: Chaos Cowl
Sword: Cold Iron Vanquisher
Gun: Valiance
Shield: Aegis
I was wondering if anyone could give me any pointers, or tips on how I could reach this goal. I'm starting to do missions, and I eventually want to get the DLC sometime soon.

Thanks for your time.

No.

Dont bother with the DLC (For now at least) As its abandoned, and a bit difficult. And since you appear to be struggling, I would recommend you spend the money you were going to use to buy the DLC, on Crystal Energy instead.

Anyways Keep doing the missions, except instead of Cold Iron Vanquisher, get the Leviathan instead. Its made from the same sword and is overall alot better. Some of the stat bars on it are a bit false. Plus it gives you the 4star and the 5 star version for free instead of having to buy it from a vendor. As long as you continue to do the missions you will get the recipes for your shield, gun, and sword (Leviathan side) up to 5 star for free. But if you go with Cold Iron Vanquisher, then you have to buy the 4 star and 5 star recipe to craft it. And crafting gets very expensive at higher stars.

Incase you still really want to craft that Cold Iron Vanquisher, the four star recipe is the Cold Iron Carver. Just so you know.

A good tip for making money is selling unneeded gear to a vendor, I emptied my inventory and got about 50,000 crowns. You can unbind it, but it costs alot and theres always the chance no one will want to buy it on the Auction House. And speaking of Auction House, thats also a good place to sell materials, I dont vendor materials because they take like, one crown for it. Never vendor materials.

If you have any questions send a message to my in-game character: Iron-Blast, and a Friend Request too if you want.

I heard once that Levi is

I heard once that Levi is really not much better than Ascended Calibur. Also, it is only normal damage, so it's probably better to get piercing, shadow, and elemental weapons to get more damage.

Just No

The Chaos Cloak and Chaos Cowl aren't very good, I suggest Divine set or Grey Feather set

This is true, so if you want a piercing sword, you need to do the snarbolax mission at least 3 times and buy the snarble barb from the token vendor for 10 Frumious Fang Tokens. It becomes a really good 5* piercing damage sword. and you get it at 2*

Plus running Snarbolax for money a few times wouldnt hurt either.

Actually, the chaos cloak is

Actually, the chaos cloak is the best choice for his set. The CTR boost + Sword DMG bonus is excellent for what he is going for. However, I highly recommend that you ditch your calibur for an elemental brandish. The charge of the elemental brandish is one of the strongest attacks in the game, leading to a 1HKO in LD for most sword dmg bonus players, and easy crowd control for PvE.

Thanks!

Thanks for all of your replies, this really helps.

And Neodasus, if I do go for the Brandish, what should I upgrade it into? (Voltedge, Glacius, etc.)

I would suggest crafting it

I would suggest crafting it into a Nightblade->Silent Nightblade-> Acheron since you will most likely be running Jelly King a bunch and that tears jellies up. Once you get enough for a Sealed Sword, make that into an Avenger (eventually a Divine Avenger). That sword destroys in Firestorm.

While running through Terminal always check the vendor for recipes. Focus on leveling 1 thing at a time, if you can.

Don't craft a weapon for a

Don't craft a weapon for a single boss.

Voltedge/Glacius/Combuster works just fine against jelles, especially when you deal status. Acheron is basically a vanilla shadow weapon that does not deal status. With your chaos set, you're looking for a charge that is actually useful...

A Voltedge is preferred due to the ability to cause strong shock, but a Glacius has the unique ability to freeze enemies in place with STRONG freeze (stronger than a shivermist) which sets the enemies up for ANOTHER charge. A combuster also has the ability to deal immense damage in one charge, with others saying it deals the most.

Arsenal forum

If your questions are mainly about equipment, then this thread should be in the Arsenal forum. Please move it.

I echo the other posters' recommendations of piercing, elemental, and shadow weapons over normal weapons. This applies to any mixture of swords and guns (but not as much to bombs). The most popular combinations are piercing sword with elemental gun, and shadow sword with elemental gun. You may find my sword guide helpful.

Get a better shield. Barbarous Thorn Shield doesn't offer as much piercing protection as Aegis, but it gives you a great offensive bonus. Grey Owlite Shield is also deservedly popular.
