I don't have any clue if there will ever be a sticky, but maybe... MAYBE. this will get some notice out there.
I have seen good ideas, and I have seen bad ideas. but the most numerous I have seen are ideas that simply needed that push to be excellent.
so here we go...

  1. check recent pages for a similar suggestion
most important, definitely. checking, at least, the three first pages will help you be sure that your idea is at least RECENTLY unique, but a check of at least 5 pages back should also be pretty good. Going further is fine, but definitely not necessary.
  2. Think out your idea.
as exciting as it is to have a good idea, its important to think it through completely, or at least complete enough to get the idea across fluidly.
  3. double check your spelling and grammer
This is the main problem I see in many suggestions. It definitely feeds into #2, and it truly does impact how others look at the idea. a proper spelling and grammer check insures that your suggestion sounds official, and truly helps the more mature forumers/higher ups take notice.
  4. Avoid walls of text
They kill. With a huge or in-depth idea this is hard to avoid -- yea, my thread suffers from this.BUT damage can be neutralized by following the next tip.
  5. Proper formatting is key
properly listing things, even if it isnt using the tags system accompanying the forum, can help make your idea easier to read and understand, and DEFINITELY helps keep track of different ideas. That "more information about formatting options" thing is worth a quick look
  6. use the preview button
it helps you check all your formatting and typing and such, and getting rid of all the tags -- if you use them -- really is nice. doubles for a spelling and gramer check as suggested in #3.
  7. Take criticism well
Act mature, and always ALWAYS be the bigger man. Don't argue, simply thank them if its helpful, or ask for them to explain what they don't like/what could be improved if it is purely negative. If they seem irrational, simply ask them what they mean, and explain what you meant. Their response could turn out to be very helpful to the growth of your idea.
  8. Thank contributors
this is entirely optional, I will admit, and I truly am not sure how many others do it. I do it to keep track of who said what, and it is a nice little thing to see for those who did contribute, that you took note and are thanking them for it.
  9. there is an edit button
If you want to edit your idea, you can edit your original post by using the edit button near the top of the page. this not only allows editing the original post, but you can change the name of the thread as well. editing other posts comes with an easy button near the bottom of that singular post, allowing you to edit what you said previously.

Thats all I can think of now. If I do think of anything else, I will add onto it. Anyone who does read this, just post a reply, keep this afloat. I truly hope this helps people, I really do want it to.

Sticky bump Problem is, the

Sticky bump

Problem is, the majority of people who make bad threads don't read any of the threads on the forum first before suggesting something :(

I agree with everything completely except points three and seven.

Walls of text may be necessary to fully evaluate a concept; I am referring to most of my posts. Separating ideas into sections may delegate paragraphs, but sometimes a wall is necessary to ensure those who respond with relevant posts have sufficient understanding of your thoughts and phase out ambiguity.

There are people who create threads in this forum based on the ideas of others without referring to the original thread or the creator. People who do this have little to no competency in the idea or simply copy-pasted the post in a new thread to flee the original thread. I personally endeavor to give credit where due as the one who delivers the ideas of another; it was not my idea, therefore it was not my idea. Not that I am pointing fingers anywhere, but when a thread is created by someone with little to no competence in the idea the thread may only grow from external contribution by the origin and/or others of the community who also may not be competent with the original concepts.

@Luguiru and @Dragaroth

Walls of text are necissary when designing new bosses, weapons and monsters. Everywhere else quick reads are much more preferable.

Your thread is a Megathread, aka where multiple ideas on the same topic are all brought up in the one place. Since it's a megathread, it's going to have a mega-OP.
