Some ideas that popped into my head

I just thought I'd put up some ideas I had for some of the less loved weapons of the game.

Catalyzers:
I rarely see this weapon used and it's such a shame that one of the few shadow handguns (am talking about the Biohazard line) just can't be used for practical reasons. Charged attack is hard to fully utilize unless solo and regular shots are very slow.

-Charged attack penetrates multiple targets and each one hit gets an "orb" ringing around it that damages other monsters on contact (much like having lots of small Dark Retributions; also means charged attack is useless on single enemies).
-Regular shot travels faster so that it's more likely (I think) to hit their target.

Callahan (and maybe Iron Slug?):
Most weapons have some sort of crowd control capabilities. Alchemer's ricocheting bullets, Pulsar's explosions, Brandish Bursts, DA projectiles; the Callahan fires one big bullet that is only intended for one target =/ and to add to that, you move very, very slowly whilst charging it.

-Charged attack penetrates multiple targets(?)

Backup Slots:
I used to use my Ascended Calibur all the time. But after I got an Avenger and a Faust, I never needed my Calibur. Any two damage type weapons is enough to deal at least neutral damage to any threat (in my case I'd use Avenger on fiends and Faust on beasts) and deal extra damage to most of them. There are times when I'd think about bringing my Ascended Calibur with me or my DVS or that normal damage slow sword whose name eludes me at the moment but then I'd think my =insert weapon here= would do a better job.

I would like the idea of having a backup weapon with me ready to use at any time (though I must admit the only time I'd see myself using it is when my weapon slots expire at the same time while doing a run).

-An extra weapon slot exclusive for one normal damage weapon. Kinda like how you are always given a pistol in a shooter game even though you never use it =D

Re: Callahan

The bullets for this gun ought to go through enemies, "piercing" through their bodies to what may be behind them. The charge attack could also deliver knockback in addition to the piercing, mimicing the Avenger line charge attack with a single projectile.

Well, when it comes to the Magnus line piercing, how will it work? Will it pierce until the bullet reaches the end of it's normal path, or will it go through a set amount of enemies?

Magnus line

I forgot Iron Slug does not have stun. They could give it wider bullets to compensate the lack of status effects.

Callahan bullets would continue their current patterns but the bullet is consumed when the path ends or hits a wall/shield/non-enemy* object.

* Vanaduke orbs, blocks, et cetera (excluding grass patches which are too low to obstruct the path of the bullet)
