I press "play" and go to the screen where the game is supposed to launch. However, the box in the middle where the game shows how far it has loaded is blank. Because of this, I believe that Spiral Knights isn't loading. Plz help! I've tried to restart my browser and everything but nothing is working.

It sounds like you have an out of date Java plugin that was suddenly disabled in your browser. Firefox is currently blocking some older versions of Java from running due to potential (non-SK) exploits. You will need to go to www.java.com and download the most recent version of Java available for your computer and also uninstall any older versions.
so i tried to launch the game again and I got a pop-up saying in need a plugin. Which plugin is it? It says the plugin can be harmful to my browser, which is Mozilla Firefox.
