You can also use the space bar to switch to the next weapon.

Okay chill out.
I have 4 weapon slots I just think it would be easier(for me at least) to switch between weapons if they were put as number keys.
@Diamondshreddie If there is already a option to do this then i must have missed it. :p

Months ago, there was no option to do this. The only way to switch between between weapons was the next/previous weapon buttons. The ability to have buttons correspond to particular weapons rather than merely cycling through them was requested many times, and it looks like it was finally added at some point. It actually works very nicely.
Now I just need to stop wasting vials when pushing what used to be my "next weapon" button.
you do know you can scroll between weapons with the mouse and its alot quicker
