I've had something happen to me where I got stuck. Sorta different though.
I was in Roarmulus Twins, Depth 16, switches before boss elevator. What happened was I got cornered by a sword mech while I was using atomizer and got it locked in place so I couldn't move, shielded, switched to gun to un-freeze him to bump him off, he shielded and I got bumpped into the switch at the corner, then ended up going over and getting stuck in the missle area >>l| If I wasn't soloing, it wouldn't have been such a big problem since I could just die and have the party take over and head over to the elevator.... but =/ nopeeeee, nobody wanted to do Twins at the time so I got stuck soloing http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/824/spknrrmtwndpth16glitch.jpg/
Since I don't know how the giant cake attacks and stuff, I can't really say how it might have happened. Probably a little too late for that now though...
