Yes, I can guess this comes up a lot.

I have a 3* cobalt set (all at level 10), and am getting a brute jelly set (helm: 10, mail: 1, shield: not yet). I'm guessing brute jelly is better because of the pierce defense. I prefer a sword, and the choice is between Calibur, Nightblade, Fireburst, and Sealed Sword (all 3*). I'm comfortable with a 3-swing combo, but lots of people say sealed sword is better, so it's between that and Nightblade. I end up using a gun a lot, but I have only one 3* (firotech) so no problem with that. (I have only two slots), or should I get a shadowtech mk II?

While wolver line armor would

While wolver line armor would be better since it has sword damage bonuses, cobalt will work pretty well for now. I actually sometimes use an elemental resist helm or armor with a pierce since I usually have more trouble with gun puppies and lumbers in close quarters, and JK himself and the minis don't deal piercing damage.

As for swords.... calibur will not give you any extra damage against any enemies, but the charge attack is very useful for gun puppies, lumbers, JK (he will get hit 3 times if you aim it right), and for knocking back monsters in halls or tight places.
The fireburst will get you extra damage against lumbers and gun puppies, and the charge attack is great for keeping JK hurting.
Nightblade is probably your best bet, since you do fight slimes mostly, and you are going to be using a sword for your main dps.
I haven't used the sealed much, but it has only normal damage and is very slow, so without armor or trinkets for asi it's probably not going to work well, except for its knockback.

I would suggest going with nightblade, and later get a sealed for making into an Avenger, since the Faust line really requires curse resistance to make the best use of it, so you have elemental and shadow weapons.

As for a gun, a firotech is about perfect, IMHO. It's really the construct stuff (lumbers and puppies) that you would want to use a gun on, and it is strong versus constructs. Also, the fire is useful for keeping JK losing health even when you can't hit him for a bit and for menders in the first 2 levels. I usually carry a nightblade (a 4* one now), a prismatech mk, and a fiery vaporizer mk, so you get the elemental plus fire with one weapon with that loadout.

As you use swords, I'd advise

As you use swords, I'd advise wolver lines over solid cobalt, due to sword damage+freeze resistance in exchange for less normal defence.
And I'd advise the nightblade and a firotech/voltech MkII or fireburst, due to the statuses being useful against JK/RJ, and the nightblade, being shadow, is strong/neutral to almost all the enemies, except for about ~10 silkwings(yes, I did vaguely count <.<")

If you have been, thank you for reading

for T2 swordsmen

Dusker Set - it's swordsman armor, of course you'd want this.

Twisted Targe - good piercing shield, gives you extra sword DMG.

Fireburst Brandish and Nightblade - these two Brandishes used together can destroy everything in the palace. I run RJP with nothing but a Blazebrand and Acheron.

...

Obviously the Ionized Salt Bomb & Cautery Sword. I mean, come on. They both have a Slime Damage Bonus: High.

What Ironskullkid said!

I suggest a Nightblade, some Brandish with elemental damage, wolver/dusker armor and a bristling buckler. If you got some RT runs under your belt, I would even suggest a Toxic Catalyzer for the extra poison if you run out of vials.

Also, I used to use a Vile Striker a lot to slice my way through the minis, and poison the JK, but it wasn't the most effective method.

The armor should probably be

The armor should probably be Dusker rather than the chroma set because the dusker gives u extra dmg against all monsters while chroma is only against jelly. The shield should be twisted targe of piercing defense. The weapons if u only have two slots should be shadow blade for the jellys and Kilowatt pulsar for the constructions. If u have four slots, have the above weapons plus a mk II and a Gravitational charge for crowd control.

Meh...

If you really want to bring an Autogun, the Pepperbox would be the best choice due to setting stuff on fire. However, it really isn't worth the investment...

Actually IDK how the Pepperbox works now with the knockback...

Regardless, I wouldn't bother unless you really like guns and want to collect them all.

For Royal Jelly, no. Auto gun

For Royal Jelly, no. Auto gun line is either normal or piercing. Piercing sux against Jellies. Normal damage is not that great, and Auto gun line is a hard one to use, because it roots you in place. It'll probably get you killed a lot or doing very few damage because you would always be dodging rather than attacking.

If you are looking for good guns :
- the antigua lines once you have enough tokens makes a great side-arm
- the polaris line if you have Roarmulus tokens is also a good side-arm
- else, any alchemer is what you are looking for if you don't have any token and really want a gun.

Except Polaris, they all come in both Shadow and Elemental flavors. You may be tempted to take a shadow one for Royal Jelly, but it would be better to get an elemental one, as everything you really want to shot with a gun instead of hitting with a sword is weak or neutral to elemental. This includes all types of turrets and lumbers, amongst the most troublesome.

@Fradow

Adding onto what the Fradow said, Elemental Guns are far more useful late game than shadow ones. Mainly because once you hit tier 3, you will be grinding FSC. Elemental > Shadow when up against Zombies and such.

Anything with Dark

Anything with Dark Retribution in it will get you through JK. I also used to solo it with a poison Catalyzer, as shadow damage + poison = good, but DR works faster.

Failing Dark Retribution... Dark Reprisal (lol).

Failing Dark Reprisal... Toxic Catalyzer on at least one person. Nightblade and Faust, being Shadow swords, deal good damage; however, you have to be careful, Royal Jelly is dangerous to walk right up to.

Ash of agni works well.

Ash of agni works well in jelly palace. Use to kill mini's and lure the rest into a waiting faust or acheron charge.

The four star version works just about as well, not sure about the three star though.

Otherwise brandishes plus wolver is the recipe for success just about everywhere.

@Atacii

I use the 3* fiery vaporizer a lot, it works quite well. I'm guessing it takes longer, but still pretty well, though it would work better with the more range from higher star versions on JK himself. I haven't managed to solo JK yet.

Don't change your loadout.

Cobalt 3*, or Brute Jelly, are good enough.

Think of what you'll need for FSC, not what you want for JK. Don't invest in the Wolver line if you think you may go gunner.
