(I don't know which subforum to put this in)

I only ask cause in one of my curiosity dives into the games files, the armor has its own individual pieces

Have some proof!

Even better cause they are Separate pieces!
So why can't they be costume pieces? energy bundle or unlockable costume, I'd like to see this ingame.

Oh, and I'm not hacking, I did a little fileswap! It doesn't appear for anyone ingame. See?

The chef is not the only NPC with unique stuff?

Why complain only about him? :P

BTW that edit could get you in trouble.

It is true though; any sort of modification of the game files, including rearrangement and assigned texture changes, is a temporary ban offense.

That annoys other Vet. forumers.

Your posts: Bad grammar, no capitalization, generalized attacks.

About that "alteration"

Yes, it alters game files. Yes, it may not be the "safest" thing in the book.

Do realize I have done this Many times. It affects no-one else but me. To me, I'm wearing a chef outfit; to everyone else, I'm still wearing my grey owlite cloak.

If it effected others in anyway, shape, or form, then I understand what I did was wrong and I won't do it again. I can even have someone verify that it effects no one else if necessary.

The only other thing I wish to say is i did that file-swap to show the chef outfit could be "equipped" in-game and that they should be available, costume or not. This thread isn't about the way i presented the outfit, it's about the outfit used by an NPC

Just wanted to verify this.

Also, @Benamas The horse-head helmet is also in the game files, in many different forms as well! (Heavy, military, divine, etc.)
Quick question, am i allowed to talk about unused helmet/armor in the game files?

ok.....people really need to get back on topic.im sure OP has figured out by now that it was against the tos to alter the schtuffs.no need to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about it.but yes,i would LOVE to see this ingame, just like id like to see the trojan-like helms available for us players.and i also agree with Sniperjoe. i would like to see some new armor and gear with messed up stats......perhaps like the rock salt bomb? XD

@Magnicth

As the OP just stated, he still doesn't think he's done anything wrong and seems to resent our advice simply because he's "done this Many times."

@OP:

The ToS are the ToS, man. We're just trying to let you know before the Mods do. Also, I've seen Mods ask people not to talk about unused models before, so I'd guess it's probably best not to.

On topic: (Since that seems to be what everyone wants me to do anyway and I'll probably never hear the end of what a terrible person I am for *GASP!* not saying something on topic! Again! I'll just let things go and if the OP gets in trouble, he gets in trouble. If not, good for him.)

Anyway, on topic: Yeah. It'd be nice.

Honestly, I don't get what the big deal is about not being on topic here since I can basically say two things and still be on topic. But oh well. Just tryin' to help.

@Ubernerd Your getting the wrong idea. I DID say I have done this many times before, But thats not how i'm justifying myself. I'm saying I don't see the problem because it doesn't affect anyone else in anyway. If it appeared I was wearing the chef outfit to other people, then yes, I would understand getting banned. But realize, as I have stated before, Only I can see the changes I have made. It doesn't effect gameplay, it doesn't effect appearence (to others) and It doesn't change any stats whatsoever.

Also, I'l be careful about what I talk about and what I show file-wise.

Edit:grammar

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but according to the TOS (which you obviously read, of course):

6. Restrictions. You agree not to do any of the following prohibited actions:
...
13. modify any files or use any game hacking/altering/cheating software or tools, including scripting or macroing software, or attempt to disassemble the game client and/or decipher the data transmissions between Spiral Knights' client and server. These activities will result in immediate termination of the Player's Account and may subject you to civil and/or criminal liability.

Duke already said it, but whatever, i got this e-mail today from a GM, ask her again if you want:

Greetings,

"File swapping" is modifying the game files and is -not- allowed on Spiral
Knights. You can find this specific rule in the "6. Restrictions" section,
#13: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Terms_of_Service#6._Restrictions

Modification of the game files can result in a ban and may create negative
side effects on the computer if attempted.

Best wishes,

- Atalanta

Ok, yes, i get it, it's against rules and restrictions, But you guys miss the entire point!

I did it so I could show you the fact that the armor fully functions in-game as an reason to make it an official item!

I will verify with a GM if possible IE email/contact in-game (which I doubt)

So please, keep on topic. I Understand what I did, you don't have to repeat it every other post. -_-

Oh yeah, I have reverted it btw, it is now as it was before any modifications where made. Always keep back-ups :D

No, that does not make it an official item. Every single piece of armor or gear used by any npc exists as its own individual model in the game's files. You can wear Kozma's armor or a Barrus' hat, but that does not make it legitimately obtainable or future content.

Well then...

I had it coming. Luckily the Gm's are understanding. I will revert the game files back to their original form.
They have let me off with a warning. I'l refrain from this stuff in the future.

But...
I run into a problem
I had deleted a file (META_INF) from the games and I have seem to forgotten to back that up. I know every update any and all modifications are wiped.

GM's, do excuse this little woopsie of mine. The next update will re-add the missing file. I will not modify the game files anymore.
Thank you for being understanding.
