I plan on being a gunslinger. My first gun will be polaris, what do u reccommend my second gun 2 be? P.S: I am doing JK runs and planning to vanaduke runs.
Thanks
I plan on being a gunslinger
Shadowtech>Umbra for shadow damage
A elemental dps gun for everywhere else.
Edit: I apologize, > was meant to be an arrow sign.
"Shadowtech>Umbra for shadow damage"
Wtf? x_X
Shadowtech is the 2*, the 5* is umbra. I was listing the line. And yes, it does deal shadow damage.
It takes quite a while to kill slimes, but is the better gun for gremlins. Umbra however would be the better shadow gun overall.
Sentenza is the easiest to use. Fast bullets, large clip, ok damage per shot. Aim at the enemy, and fire. Autoaim if you must, but just pointing at the enemy and shooting does the job.
Umbra, with alchemer mechanics, is harder to use. Think of it as your "skilled" gun. The ricochets from the bullets are semi predictable, as in it always ricochets to the left of you knight. Positioning shots well can lead to 3 or even 4 hits per clip. It has the potential to deal higher dps than sentenza, but requires more work and practice. Otherwise, you will fall behind in damage dealt.
The Umbra Driver isn't the "skilled" shadow gun. That title belongs to the Biohazard.
Both Umbra and Biohazard take more skill than the Sentenza. I use the Sentenza on mainly Gremlins, but slimes every now and then. Most of the time, unless I'm in a random clockworks run, I use the Umbra Driver on Slimes, because I find Slimes tend to bunch together a lot more. With Gremlins, they do swarm, but if you shoot them they scatter. While Slimes just mob together, and it becomes REALLY easy to consistently get 2+ bounces per shot.
And then I pawned my Virulent Catalyzer to a vendor when I needed 10k to pay for an SL run with a friend. I never liked it :P
Because aiming bullets that only requires you to hit is skilled. It's slow, but guns have different velocity. Does biohazard require a higher degree of aiming in order to out dps it's fellow shadow guns? I don't think so.
Sentenza is better for gremlins, while umbra driver is better for slimes.
You can use blitz needle for Vanaduke himself, but that's pretty much the only use of it that I'm aware of. Callahan is better everywhere else that you might want a piercing gun--and in particular, a lot better against devilites.
If you get a polaris, then be careful about how you use it when grouped. Idiots with a polaris often try to spam it on everything, and thus do more to kill their teammates than the mobs that they're fighting.
If you want an elemental gun that you can use everywhere and at worst it's simply ineffective, then try the various alchemer/driver lines.
If you only want to loop jelly king and Vanaduke and not touch the other 95% of the game, then I suppose you don't need that much in the way of useful gear.
If you plan your first weapons being polaris and blitz, you might as well not be a gunner. Get an alchemer, preferably a status one or shadow, and a magnus. Then pick up an Antigua, it has a great firing pattern and its easy to use. Catalyzers are fun to use, but neither of them are exceptional. Keep your blaster around and upgrade it every now and then. Valiance and normal damage in general are pretty underrated.
@Demonicsothe: Precision aiming is the only hurdle with using an Umbra Driver. The speed of Biohazard bullets is a big issue. They travel slower than the shots from a Polaris. The majority of your shots will miss if you don't anticipate the behaviors of monsters. Biohazard shots are also a little smaller than Umbra Driver shots. Damage from detonating charged shots is static and will not benefit from damage bonuses. Charge shots will do nothing if you don't detonate them before they disappear. As a result, you need to find a balance between stacking charges and detonating them.
If you still think the Umbra Driver has a higher learning curve to use effectively, compare killing Darkfang Thwackers with both a Biohazard and an Umbra Driver.
Vanaduke eh? Blitz needle ftw!!!
