We all know about pvp games, where we face off against other real life people and we try to kill them, But what about games where we work together with others to kill monsters?
I have thought of a new game called defend the knights. Basically, you are defending a group of knights against hordes of monsters that will come out of these gates. These gates will surround the arena containing the knights (and you). You have to kill the monsters before they hurt or damage the knights. Each knight will be spread across the room, all looking scared and frightened. During the countdown time (the time at the beginning of the match telling you how much time there is until the start of the match), You and others will position yourselves in a place to defend the knights when the monsters come out. Different maps will have traps based on the environment of the map (spikes included)!
There will be a variety of monsters coming out of the gates. Devilites, zombies, wolvers, and much more. You have to equip a good combination of weapons so that you can kill the different monsters easily. The knights will also move around randomly, but slowly during the game, so you have to move along with it.If a monster gets too close to a knight, It will attack the knight until stopped. If a knight takes too much damage, it will die. Of course, you will get damage and will also die too if you aren't careful. When you die, there will be a re spawn time, and you will be randomly be placed somewhere in the arena. You will also be given 3 seconds of invincibility, so you can see what is going on around you.
You will have to pay the same amount of crowns you pay for BN and Lockdown. The amount you receive will depend on how much damage each knight received total, and how many knights died ( you don't want a knight to die, as it will lower your payout greatly)! I can't think about the amount you receive after a game, so the people reading this (you!) will have to decide. Hopefully, you won't get stuck on this idea like I did. There will be 8-12 people fighting during each match. The less people there are, the less monsters there are. There will be no classes in this game, so you have to equip the right shields too!
I hope you like this idea. Suggestions are appreciated, but only the positive ones that say what I need to add or remove. Hopefully, this can become a real game in SK and would really like it too (but only if most people like it)!
There are a few issues to this concept:
1- Party size (8-12)
Rather than make it a lag-fest keep the party size how it would be in the Clockworks; 1-4. Chat commands (follow, attack, et cetera) could be used to command the NPC knights (see Pikmin) though they are susceptible to death and have weak armor. Enemy health scales as it does in the Clockworks, the AI stays the same (it does not know if you or the NPC are more threatening, it goes for whichever is closer).
2- Respawning
Assuming the enemies drop loot as in the Clockworks, respawning without a teammate giving you some of their health or using energy is a no-go. If the enemies do not drop anything then respawning can work as it does in Blast Network and Lockdown. This is to prevent farming abuse (pay 200Cr entry fee, get indefinite heat and money) though the rewards would have to scale appropriately; see below.
3- Balancing a survival mission
Assuming this minigame may spawn any non-boss enemy (Roarmulus, Jelly King, Snarbolax, Vanaduke, Shadow Lair variants) a loadout station must be available before the round begins. To apply traps (spike pads, fire pads, et cetera) there can be various rooms or difficulties to clear (T1 pierce room, T2 shock room, et cetera) with appropriate enemies (T1 Lumbers in T1 rooms, et cetera). Each tier would be separate like Lockdown, but would participants also be limited to tier appropriate equipment? Assuming the enemies in each tier drop appropriate vials (T1 pills in T1, T2 freeze vials in T2, et cetera; no heat, money, equipment or materials) it would make sense for the participants to also have equipment for the tier. An issue with payment would be abusing player skill over AI ability; there are players can survive all tiers regardless of their equipment. Would they be allowed to dominate the minigame and be exclusively invited into these parties? People complain about veterans using lower rank equipment to dominate lower tiers in Lockdown, would that also apply to a minigame where players fight the AI and not each other? Would these veterans be allowed to grind easy enemies for rewards they may vend to turn out substantial profit? My take on this would be to make it completely separate from Krogmo and only give this minigame untradeable rewards to prevent economic abuse, seeing as the economy does not need to be inflated further.
