Personally i do all my moving with the asdw. I have attack mapped to the right mouse click, and F. Sometimes i find it more responsive to press F for the 2nd/3rd hits of combos, especially if i've been playing a while (also my mouse is cheap, lol). And then guard mapped to J, and the mouse left click.
I don't have any desire to use the mouse left click to run, so i found it very useful to make it my guard. Also, using X to guard when using asdw to move is awkward for me.
Lastly, the other reason i have attack and defend mapped additionally to f and g is because i play on a laptop, so sometimes it's nice to not use the mouse at all, or when i go back to haven to lean back on my couch and not use the map (so F will also talk to people).
I need to map my potion/vial spots to something more useful than 1 2 3 4.
Or....i need to use an xbox controller so i can move like a gazelle, destroying everything in my path like the beast that i am
:D :D :D
Like you, I find it a lot easier to move with the ASDW combo that's become the standard for most 3D games (on desktop computers, at least). I found it cumbersome to keep using the right-click to attack with, so I moved attack to the left mouse-click (allowing me to spam a much-more-natural-feeling flurry of strikes by left-clicking). I swapped the move-forward button over to the right-click on the mouse.
Aside from that, I haven't changed much. I do have a game controller, but as it's one of those SNES retro things refitted for USB (intended for emulators), it doesn't translate well to 3D. I tried it, and the response isn't great, so I never use it.
I do think that if anyone is honestly still controlling their characters the way the in-game tutorial instructs you, I'd like to give them a bow of respect. Moving with left-click and attacking with right-click becomes a recipe for "OWIE finger syndrome" right-quick. But, yeah .... the tutorial should make it clear that ASDW is an option from the get-go. Maybe even show some preference for it. It's much easier.
