In terms of general difficulty, how much harder (or easier) would you say the first Shadow Lair (Rabid Snarbolax) is compared to FSC? I have a shadow key that I got from a lockbox and want to know how much more prepared I should be before possibly wasting 100k+ CR if I should die right away.
SL1 vs. FSC
Rabid Snarby is a bit weird....
First of all, the Rabid Snarby(s) is harder than the Ice Queen. Second, there are a surprisingly high number of Undead actually. I wear a Snarby Coat, Skolver Cap, and Crest of Almire when doing the Rabid Snarby. And finally, the first floor IMO is harder than the last, while the boss is the easiest part (this is true for almost all the Shadow Lairs).
Rabid Snarby is quite a bit harder IMO than FSC though. The Shadow Lairs in general start sending more enemies at you with less space to maneuver. At first the UGWW will seem like a walk in the park, but the first arena place (in the regular GWW, it's where Zombies first spawn) will just smash your entire party and grind them into nothing unless they see it coming. Most of the floors are easy, but like all the Shadow Lairs, the small arena rooms are what really destroy parties.
If you want an exact number, I would say the Rabid Snarby is about... 30%-40% harder than FSC.
The main problem is you can practice FSC all you want for free to the point you master it.
Snarby is not much harder than the final room of d27 before vanaduke. The problem is that every single room is like that and you dont have respawing hearths. If you go with an experienced party that knows spawns your life will be easier.
Alright, thanks. I had just completed my first FSC today and only have one 5* weapon so I guess I shouldn't go just yet. xD
If you can easily beat FSC without breaking a sweat, then you can do Snarby without using energy revives (assuming you are properly equipped). Shadow Snarby is harder than FSC though and everyone I know considers it the easiest of the shadowlairs. In my 2 SL experiences it was easier than Ice Queen, but that may have been because we weren't optimally equipped for the Ice Queen lair.
Make sure you have normal, pierce, shadow, and poison armor (I had Skolver Coat and Crown of the Fallen). Make sure you have someone in your party who can deal with howlitzers (so a polaris and a shadow shield to tank the heads). Bring pierce and elemental weapons. There is no need for shiver, but some people like it, personally I don't. I brought my Voltaic Tempest with CTR Max and it did wonders for kats since it will often cancel their attacks. The other reason I didn't bring Shiv was because I had my Combuster which would constantly be countering the shiv. I also brought my DBB to dispatch groups of wolvers while knocking them to the ground.
Also, if given the option, let wolvers come to you where it is safe. No reason to hunt down a wolver in the middle of a spike trap zone or between a group of howlitzers.
If you've only done FSC once, I'd suggest waiting and doing FSC for a bit first. You don't need all 5* gear, but you should be properly equipped. Also, I'm assuming you'll want to save up to craft some shadow lair gear before you go and you'll need the appropriate 4* gear pre-heated to 10. If you aren't crafting a Snarbolax coat/cap then you'd need to buy the appropriate material.
Since I never did the rabid snarby I have no right to recommend type of armor to bring. But, I have a good idea on what good weapon to bring. A FF or BTB would be one of the best weapon choices for Rabid Snarby. I cannot also compare the difficulty but I think (before anyone starts to rage at me, I THINK) Rabid Snarby would be easier.
I watched a few videos before, maybe you should too.
