I just wanted to make this clear.
A simple yes/no answer can help this thread get moved to the graveyard faster.
Also if someone can explain what it is, that would be great.
Is spiral spy legal?
And you want to get it.
Yes, that makes perfect sense.
Ah, don't bite the people's heads off who bother to respond to you. It's a bit rude, and prevents them from wanting to help you in the future.
So on that note....
If it was illegal, GMs would have already edited/deleted all posts about it or make an anouncement.
But no, it's been months without anything.
Isnt that enough common sense?
What Spiral Spy is: It's pretty much a program that runs off of Spiral Knights that allows you to "data mine" the files. What that means is you can pull up models of just about anything. Armor, weapons, monsters, various doodads from levels ect ect. Its nice if you want to get a closer look at some of the items, take screen shots of your characters in cool poses and scene's; stuff like that.
Is it legal?: Yes and no. It pretty much is harmless since it honestly doesn't hack the game to give you 100000ce, but the iffy side lies in the content you have access to. Since your able to load up any weapon, armor, and enemy from the game, it gives you access to things that did not go live in the game yet. Example; Being able to see Warmaster Seerus' model before Operation: Crimson Hammer wen't public. It's not illegal to view it, but I have read posts from GM's saying that they don't wan't people releasing screen shots/videos of unreleased content.
Legal, just don't post spoilers. Spoilers go against the ToS. Equinox (that one gm on the wiki editor forum) even said they could consider using spiral spy for the wiki once they fix up the image issues.
What did that have to do with spiral spy?
Spiral Spy itself is legal, pukeing the information out on the forums is not.
Of course it's legal, developers don't have the power to magically change laws on a whim, the files are on your computer and you're entirely entitled to look at them as you so please. Actually tampering with the files is against the terms of service and can get you banned from the game, but I highly doubt it'd be conisdered 'illegal' even if it's a minor breach of contract (Although this is the point where things become less clear).
If you don't know what it is, why do you care if it's allowed? Luls.
