Volc Plate armor with a helm with no normal defense?

Hello-My-Baby

I wanted to get an opinion on how useful Volcanic plate would be when put together with a helmet such as the Divine veil would work. Though much of this is hinged on the guess that plate armor continues to have double the normal resistance when you reach the 5*star equivalents. I'm aware there isn't any (general) attack bonuses but I'm planning of having all three weapon types eventually anyways and guns and swords are the only weapons I have felt a small noticeable effect from the speed penalty; bombs only have slightly longer fuses I think.

you mean Ancient Plate Mail

I think you mean Ancient Plate Mail, rather than Volcanic Plate Mail. Sadly the difference is crucial.

I actually meant Volcanic

I actually meant Volcanic plate, Ancient has EVERYTHING in normal defense and health bonuses which won't work very well. Ironmight has the problem of having nothing to make the fire resistance as far as I can see.

Of course it doesn't. What, you think it has double normal and then a full bar of ele/pierce on top of it? Sadly no.

Its hard to say if it does or

Its hard to say if it does or not, as it goes way out of what the bar can even show. There's a little bit of evidence if you look at say, boosted plate and compare it to other 3* armors. I'd be able to check if once I actually get one, but I'd assume that it would have more normal defense than anyone really needs, especially in a set.

u can use some of that

u can use some of that ''extra'' normal defense to invest on something that doenst have any normal at all (scale and snarbolax line, for example) but i wouldnt pair up ironmight or volcanic with something that doesnt have at least one shared resistance eg: dragon with both, snarbolax with volcanic, silvermail with ironmight.....

Snarbolax => Normal/Shadow/Poison/Freeze/Swrd DMG+

@ Kraanx *scratches head* what? Snarbolax has Normal/Shadow/Poison/Freeze

Also, to see how far the Normal bar goes equip a Plate piece along with a non-normal piece like (Drake line, Divine, or Silvermail) and look at your total defense in at the bottom of the Character window to see how far the Normal bar goes compared to the bars from your non-plate piece. Would do this but I don't own any armor without Normal defense.

I've had this same thought, but the Ancient Plate nerfs are too much of a pain (in my opinion) to make this worth doing. I have fully heated my Ancient Plate set (did not enjoy) and now it is sitting gathering dust and rusting (more) in my arsenal. In most cases I tend to like to tweak for DMG/ASI/CTR over protection.

This is doubtless true up to 4*, and for Ancient Plate, but you were asking about Volcanic Plate. It may or may not exceed the bar, but if it does, it's not by much. The extra Normal is pretty much converted to Ele.
