I made a test about performance on Steam client and performance on Standalone client, standalone client loads levels faster and has better performance.
Is there any way so I can play SK without steam?

That trick doesn't work. If it did, it stopped working before I tried it.
First login here on forums with steam account.
Launch standalone client. On logging screen click on 'connect with facebook'. It will check if you're logged in on forums.
For some reason, the game doesnt diferentinate steam account from facebook and you'll get accepted.
Note: with this method, your game will crash if you touch the energy market (i suppose because it tries to interact with steam wallet but cant find it). But besides that, works good enough.
