So, the one problem I've had with SK is the lack of story. I understand the the mission system and the recon modules added a semblance of a story but my soul screams for more. Stories are my favorite parts of games! Thoughts?

The thing about Spiral

The thing about Spiral Knights and is that they DON'T give you the entire story, the point is to make you think of it while they slowly unravel it.

Oh,theres a story. Trust me.

Oh,theres a story. Trust me. You just gotta take the clues and piece them together. Thats when theories form.just take it piece by piece and put them together.and besides,in a game like this, keeping the whole story vague gives the devs so many chances to add new content as they add more story.trust me,theres a story, you just need to look beyond the normal stuff.

Give it time

SK's just celebrated it's one-year anniversary, and most of that year has been spent adding content and gameplay mechanisms, a story takes time to weave.
They already had a storyline that promised to be awesomesauce (Swarm, Core, Tinkinzar, Crimson Order... etc.) prior to missions. the missions were just some icing on the cake.
If you want a story, then let me break SK down to the basic elements of a story (an idea my various english teachers have drilled into my skull)

Exposition: Pre-mission tutorial and the first few missions. Established how we got here, why we are still here, yadda yadda. We're done.

Rising Action: We're here right now, we've established how we got to (outside of) the Core, the various stuffs about gremlins and the Swarm make story juicier... We still got a way to go.

Climax: Nope, nothing in-game constitutes the jaw-dropping awesomeness that has to be a Climax in a plot such as the one we are seeing form.

Falling Action: The aftermath of the amazing Climax, probably with lots and lots of backstory and explanations and blah (blah).

Resolution: IDK, IDC enough to speculate, not a lot of MMOs have stories that include this part, so you can fuggedaboutit right now.

Note: None of this is including community speculation and cryptic clues from staff.

We should need to know how

We should need to know how the Knights look without their Armor and so on...
It's not that what you think.

Since when does anyone ever

Since when does anyone ever give a hoot for story when it comes to gaming? Fracking son of chili dogs, people just care about being top beasts?! WTH is so enjoyable about that in a game like Spiral Knights!?!

....

I like story. Obviously coming from a game that has next to none I naturally would like to know why the hell I'm not saving the princess....
On second thought I'll keep Daisy, at least she only was kidnapped once. Less hassle for me. Still, there is a story, and story is good.

Depends on what kind of story

Depends on what kind of story you want? We haven't been on Haven that long, but you can read about the stories on the Wiki if you search around. The Firestorm Citadel story is particularly good.

clarification

I understand what you guys are saying about there already being a story but I think its a little too vague, or rather hard to find. I like the hints they're giving us now but I want more! So, why do I want to bash the JK other than to grab a rcon module! Why do we keep going back into the clockworks if the core is closed? Why do the bosses keep coming back?

btw- how do I change my picture in the forums?

You're looking for Alpha squad. They are also trying to use minerals to see if the core opens(Go and do the arcade and go to the core.).

Snarby is a race.

Vana's immortal

There are several maifacrutred RTs

and JK is a title. SOme monarct could take it.

You're thinking too hard.

It's called Royal Jelly in-game, which would explain why there are multiple.

You don't understand

I don't think you guys are getting the point of my post. I'm not asking if other MMOs have stories and I'm not looking for a simple answer. Having a creative reason why I keep repeating my self makes it more fun and compelling! Maybe just a little more dialogue! Also, we're not looking for alpha squad anymore! Read the core recon module and it says they they entered the core. I just am saying this game would be more interesting with more of a story.

Honestly, I think OOO is

Honestly, I think OOO is trying to keep the story in the "Rising Action" phase for as long as absolutely possible. Why? Because it will keep people on the edge of their seats in anticipation and begging for new content to continue the story. When we get to the falling action and resolution, people will have closure and want a new story to emerge. But the good thing about keeping it in Rising Action is it can gain a lot of player speculation. Might even give the devs a chance to get some interesting idea from their players. Who knows? They might enjoy reading our speculations sometime. :P
