The more I play, the more it lags

Hi, I am seeking your help for an issue that has been going on since a long time.

So first I need to say my computer meets all the requirements, it even is a lot better than it would need (without being ultra efficient) and I have the last java version. I'm not stupid and I thought of everything that could cause the problem and didn't found anything. Don't ask me questions for newbies.

The problem appeared a while ago, when I played on a relatively slow computer, in fact as soon as I started playing this game, the more I would play it on a single session, the more it would lag, being totally unplayable after 1 hour and half of playing, while at the beginning it would run totally smoothly. I have to specify this did happen ONLY on spiral knights, other programs or games would run perfectly fine even after hours and hours of running.

I hoped that playing on my personal computer (a lot faster) would fix this issue, but it's all the same : if I play more than 1 hour, it begins to lag, and you need to know than it does not lag randomly, it lags everytime an effect shows on the game, like mobs spawning, crates being slain, crates disappearing with a blue effect ... and on huge fights like jelly king or lord vanaduke, when a lots of effects are displayed it becomes totally unplayable, even going to huge freezes of 3 minutes duration and sound beginning to lag too ! (that's when this happens that I begin to freak out)

But keep in mind this only happens if I play more than 1 hour : if I meet jelly king or lord vanaduke soon enough after my first session of the game, it goes totally smoothly.

So the solution I found to this is not overextending my sessions : I only play 1 hour to spiral knights and if I want to play more, I simply reboot my computer, so I'm not a totally useless and idling guy in the middle of a fight, but you have to admit this isn't really convenient.

Few details : being on spiral knights is the only way the lag appears. If I do something else for 5 hours, do not reboot, and then play spiral knights, it will run smoothly but after playing 1 hour on sk, lags will begin to appear. Lags only show on spiral knights. If I stop playing because there are too much lags on sk, and then do something else, anything else will run totally smoothly, no problem (even heavy games which require a lot of processing power). Exiting and starting the game again won't fix anything, even with 5 hour space between the two sessions. If I stop playing because there are too much lags, wait 5 hours doing something else then come on sk again, it will be all the same (when I play again there will be as much lags as when I stopped) . I can be on low or high graphics, it will do exactly the same (being on high graphic speeds up the delay of lag appearance a bit, though). Last thing : it won't affect the loading speed of a map.

So I guessed this could be about the short memory of my computer, the more I play the more it stacks informations and after 1 hour of stacking it becomes overwhelming and it can't process everything (like maps that don't unload ... idk) but it doesnt affect anything else, and after 5 hours of not playing it still happens, so it's unlikely to be that.
I thought this could be a java problem, but minecraft (that you know runs on java) runs perfectly fine and doesn't have that bug. And I checked and rechecked and overchecked, my java version is the latest.
I thought this could be about a virus or something (I already had that problem, after 1 or 2 hours a computer begins to be very slow and this is often due to a virus) but it only happens on spiral knights and more important, it happened on 2 independent computers, one slow (a while ago) and one average/fast (the one I'm on now).
I thought this could be about my connection, because it happens on both computers that work on the same router, but lags only show when an effect is displayed, which shows it's something about my graphic card or my processor, but again, it only shows on this game, and I can run my computer for a day, it won't loose in speed. So what ? This is driving me crazy !

Again, it is really making my gaming experience rather frustrating, because I have to choose to either continue playing without being able to do anything in fights or having to stop my progress, reboot and then start from haven again. So I can't really chain runs or do really long runs. And often I can't fight bosses because they are found after half an hour/an hour of playing (if you don't join a party)

So does anyone has any idea, or did it happen to anyone here ?

I've noticed as well that the game tends to run a bit slower the longer you're on it. I'm not sure if this is a Java issue or an SK-specific issue. I haven't checked memory usage, since the lag is still relatively light on my system and barely affects me. Maybe check the RAM usage of the java.exe after you load into a zone, and then check again in the same location an hour later? If it's significantly higher it might explain the issue.

I made the test today, when I start the game it takes about 150 Mb of memory and after 1 hour of gaming, when it begins to lag, it takes 550 Mb.
So now that I've more or less located the problem, is there a magic trick to fix it ? Like add a line to the shortcut, or execute on windows 95, or anything else ? Or would someone be able to find out how to (in a simple way) free the memory the game takes and reinitialise it to 150 ? (without leaving the game if possible)

Close game with task manager The difference between doing this and just closing the game normally is that you wont log off (the server still thinks you're there). Your character will be right where you left it-usefull to do in the middle of a level

Still you have to admit

Still you have to admit waiting 5-10 minutes for my computer to boot every hour of gaming, and getting my team (if I have one) to wait that long, is really unconvenient. I need another solution than rebooting ...

But you have to learn to read

But you have to learn to read guys ...

I said explicitly l.22 of my pavement : "Exiting and starting the game again won't fix anything, even with 5 hour space between the two sessions. If I stop playing because there are too much lags, wait 5 hours doing something else then come on sk again, it will be all the same (when I play again there will be as much lags as when I stopped) ."

Come on don't tell me you try to give me stupid newbies solution when you have the whole list of what doesn't work.

So no, exiting and starting the game again doesn't do anything. As much lags as when I stopped. If you want the short version.
