I find it ridiculous. Alone against them is no biggie, and would have been a far better way to make what feels like an intro to the Trojans. The addition of the souls that chase you just adds a false difficulty to that point. Not shielding causes me to turn into a pig at a slaughter house, while shielding causes me to get nowhere in either direction. I've taken down 2/3 (one just went poof without reason) and died three times.
All I know is that you need to attack them after they've attacked, and always in the back. Doing that with the souls constantly chasing me is... really rather hard.
I'm trying to do what I can alone for this mission, since it feels more like it's meant to make you, the lone Knight, better. Not a group.
How DO you kill the Trojans in the 'Blades of the Fallen' quest?

Er, the souls?
You can attack them first... clear away some of them, then attack the trojan. Rinse and repeat.
Traevelliath: I once tried that room solo with RSS... all went well as I blew slags away, even with three trojans chasing me. The slags were gone, but then a lag spike hit me... got double-teamed by two trojans and bumped onto spikes and fire, and died instantly.
Some rooms are just not designed for solo'ers (e.g. last room in The Silent Legion or The Gauntlet with a bad draw), not to mention with any kind of lag...

Okay, I got the flourish
Taking them down after that was pathetically easy.
Thanks guys.
To be honest, that's nothing compared to late game. Late game they are throwing 2 Trojans at you, in a cramp space, surrounded by hazards, with swarms of fire-breathing zombies making the small amount of space smaller...
ANYWAYS! Enough of me using my pain to disregard yours!
First of all, one thing few people (early on) know about Trojans is how to taunt them (People call it different names, but it's essentially the same). A Trojan will almost always attack within a few seconds if you stand still. By extension, a Trojan will almost never attack if you constantly move. Now, the key is not how far you move, but how much you can make the Trojan rotate. If you keep the Trojan constantly pivoting, he wont attack, yet if he is barely pivoting to keep up with you, he will attack. (As a sidenote, when in groups, replace the word "you" with "whoever has the Trojan's Aggro." Trojans wont change their target unless someone else does some serious damage to them)
There are two ways that I deal with Trojans, depending on how much space I have. The easiest one is to stay as far away from the Trojan as possible, and then taunt the Trojan. He will (95% of the time) charge you. When you see him prepare his charge attack, sidestep as quickly as possible (for obvious reasons) and take the moment to unleash an attack into his back (ideally a charge attack). The second strategy is to stay as close as possible (I mean like snugglin' up with his shield type close), and get him to trigger a basic swing. His wind-up is predictable, and you can deal some damage after each attack. Occasionally he will do a pulse, which just requires you taking a few steps back, running behind him, and hitting him a few times.
You may also need a change in gear. Consider a Flourish-type weapon. There are two of them. I assume if you are at the Blades of the Fallen, you haven't had the chance to face/farm the Snarbolax. Thus, visit the Auction House, search the sword "Flourish", organize the results by Buy Price, and then purchase a Flourish. They are only about 1000 crowns, often less on a good day. If you have faced the Snarbolax, return to him and farm him for tokens, trading in 10 Fumious Fangs for a Snarble Barb, which essentially is the same weapon with a different charge attack.
Flourishes are known for their Pierce damage type and their quick first swing that also has impressive knockback. It is also one of the best weapons to shield cancel with. Do the first swing of a Flourish, and then immediately shield to cancel the backswing animation. This allows you to constantly spam the first swing at an impressive rate. As mentioned early, this first swing also has a lot of knockback, and can smack away wandering souls without causing you to move too much. Above all else, Flourishes do Piercing damage though, and Fiends are weak to piercing. You should see some nice Orangey-brownish numbers appear if you stab a Trojan with a Flourish.
Beware the Flourish charge attack is a three-hit-combo that makes you move quite a distance. If too reckless, you can fling yourself into some painful hazards.
