Balance.

Elaborate upon "balance". Nerf or Buff? (probably nerf, but you can never be too sure...) If so, what gear do you have in mind? (Or do you plan on changing ALL of the equipments?)
"What? I don't know that. YAAAAAAAWWWWWW!!!!!!"
I'd really like a nice cup of Balance myself. It gets a little old when otherwise interesting and unique weapons are left in the dust (Suda/Triglav/WHB/DVS/etc.) or just dropped off the charts entirely (Winmillionnnnnn. D:) when compared to weapons like the oh-so-overpowered Divine Avenger, or the flinch-locking BTB/FF.
Well, that and the 'specialty' armors can be extremely disjointed. Why am I getting Beast and Slime Low on my Arcane Salamander, and Volcanic Salamander getting Slime Medium when NEITHER of them have appropriate defenses? Why not make Arcane have Shadow defense and strength against Fiends and Undead, fitting the witchcraft ideas, and Volcanic strong against Gremlins and Constructs, fitting its Elemental characteristics?
And then there's the Dragon sets. Bonus to Beasts, yay! No normal defense, deuueaugh! Why are these otherwise usable sets made unusable by their completely disjointed defenses? They should compliment their buffs, not be completely separate from them- how often are you going to use Elemental defense on Slimes or Beasts? Extremely rarely, and only when the aforementioned Beasts and Slimes are complemented by Gremlins or Constructs.
I don't know, I don't have all the answers, Many of my Ideas have been shot down, and I understand the reasons why.
But one thing is clear: things are NOT right the way they are now.
Specialized armors ALWAYS beat Unspecialized, in every way.

>Specialized armors always beat unspecialized
When you say "specialized" do you mean all the bonus giving sets as a whole or just the weapon-specific/all-weapon-encompassing bonus giving sets?
@Draycos
>deuueaugh!
I c wat u did thar
Wolver Armor
Gunslinger Armor
Demo Armor

^All that makes sense. Give them defense that go with their buffs.
I think improvements to monster-family-specific sets would be appropriate. Along with more appropriate defenses to monster types, changing the net damage increase from Very High to Maximum! for the whole set would be nice, and would make them better in their specific scenarios than the current all-encompassing lines.
Give those non general set a major boost to defenses, and maximize the damage...
like, Dragon gives defenses to everything but normal, or crazy high to pierce and Ele... and max beast damage on everything.

At maximum, it should be on par with specialized damage against a monster weak to the weapon when said weapon is a neutral damage weapon. It should also stack with damage bonuses, if ya ask me.
It is true that defence is underpowered in this game, especially on T3. I think the main reason for this is because enemies deal too much damage, but are too easy to dodge, creating an attitude of "armour apathy" were people only care about maximizing damage even when choosing armour, thinking they should just learn to dodge most attacks completely.
I say we could:
*Make enemies harder to dodge, so that avoiding damage completely takes immense skill
*Buff defence of purely defensive armour a lot
*Buff defence of family-specialised armour a bit (family isn't as good as weapon, after all), and give them appropriate defence types (Volcanic Salamander should be piercing, for instance)
*Leave weapon-specialised armour be
@Tsubasa: What you are saying doesn't make sense. Skill is never gear dependant. I think what you mean is, "Can we make THE GAME less gear dependant, and more SKILL dependant". Personally I think it should be more of both, people should need both skill and the right gear to beat the harder parts of the game.
That would work if there wasn't so many whingers in this game
At least my proposition has the advantage of not containing any nerfs, which tend to stir the most ire. Which part do you think will piss people off the most, the harder monsters or the better defence?
The buffs cause lots of problems with new players, while the nerfs will cause problems with old players.
I believe there was someone suggestion a buff of T3 monters while leaving T1 monsters how they are. It was about 2 months back, but it was a great idea.
Only if you give me a waffle because i like waffles and stuff :3
(Sorry, late at night and i feel stupid)
But um.... do you have any suggestions on how to do this? o_O
If so, i would like to hear them.
But only for waffles.
I only listen for waffles.
Do you have waffles?
I like waffles.
