For a while I've been considering upgrading my Faust, since Gran Faust has a nice design, but I've been wondering whether this would be worth it. I already have an Acheron for Shadow sword damage, plus GF has a much longer charge than Faust, but I prefer its heavy sword mechanic for slimes and also its aesthetics. While I do have other things which I plan on making soon(gunner gear), having a heavy sword can be handy since I plan on using vog set and swifty more often in the future. Seeing how many other players have multiple weapons with the same damage and weapon type, would it be viable for me to craft it? What would you do, and why? Geez, I really need to be better at making up my mind >_<
Another indecision thread: Gran Faust?
Depends what you do with it. If you stick to RJP and use a lot the charge, it may be a good idea to stick with Faust. The damage you gain is not that great, and the charge is WAY longer.
But if you use it in T3 or don't use the charge much, by all means upgrade it.
I also have both Acheron and GF in my arsenal, and against gremlins, I often take both and switch in combat according to the number/placement of gremlins.
But well, perhaps you have some other items more worth upgrading ? This type of upgrade is definitely at the bottom of the pile.
It ultimately comes down to: Is GF much better than Acheron? I'd say "No". Hence, it is not worth upgrading, or at best it's a low priority, as Fradow says.
I prefer GF over Acheron in tight rooms, where I need to keep monsters at bay. This includes the Unknown Passage and Ice Queen. It includes the third level of the mission Terminal Meltdown, where there are oilers and fire traps all over the place. I also prefer GF for opening the corners in the southeast room of RJP depth 16, and probably for the Royal Jelly himself, due to his area-effect attack. In all other situations, I prefer Acheron.
I primarily stopped at Faust because GF has a ridiculously long charge time. But if you have a CTR uv it's well worth it.
i never use the charge except in the DLC
but the gran faust is one of my favorit weapons (i use it against everything that is weak/neutral to shadow damage) and for me it's WAY better at handling wolvers (or any large group) then a toothpick. so if you realy like the heavy sword, don't think just craft it :)
Who charges the GF? Unless you abuse the immune curse glitch that I doubt they fixed.
I charge the GF. When I go into a level where I plan to use it, I take a sword CTR trinket and a curse trinket, and I still have two vials and one weapon I can use if I'm cursed.
With a bit of curse resistance it only curses me like 1/5 times or less and it's not that bad when it happens.
weapon slot upgrade is all you really need...
all the more reason to not upgrade it, yeah it helps Gran Faust but the 4* Faust benefits even more from CTR than its big brother
Yeah, i guess I might hold off upgrading for a while and wait for the weapons balance patches, just in case. The design looks real appealing to me though :(
As someone who uses Acheron and Gran Faust both, I'd say it's worth upgrading.
The longer charge time honestly really bites, but the damage goes up a lot too on the normal attack.
Depending on the level and my mood I use Acheron and GF about equally and I have a very varied arsenal to pick from.
It's worth upgrading especially if you like heavy swords.
