Loadout Help

I already have a loadout in mind, however I need help making sure that there arent any glaring flaws in it. The loadout I had in mind was radiant silver mail, dragon scale helm, omega shell and a leviathan sword. With all of these equipment I would have substantial protection against normal, element, shadow and piercing damage. I choose the Leviathan sword for its ability to knock monsters back and its reliable normal damage. As for my secondary slot I have decided to use whatever gun or bomb depending on the situation. If you could give me advice on which gun or bomb to use that would be great :) What do you think of my loadout so far?

Omega Shell
It has a defense of 7 against normal attacks and it has the maximum health for a shield. Edit: Btw I was looking as the vog cub and the swiftstrike buckler and i was wondering if their enhanced speed negates the need for shields and damadge resistances?

You only need normal and
You only need normal and elemental defense.
Piercing defense is useless. Normal is the most important. Every single piece of armor you have should have normal defense, and without it, you will get smashed pretty hard.
And nothing in the game negates the need for shields and damage resistances.

So in that case i guess i better go for something like vog cub armor then. But would it be plausible to have the swiftstrike buckler shield? If i did go for vog cub armor would it be ok to have both leviathan and Cold Iron to take full advantage of the armor?

You want Leviathan and Divine
You want Leviathan and Divine Avenger. Divine Avenger makes Cold Iron worthless in every facet. Vog Cub is the ideal armor setup for endgame. Swiftstrike Buckler cannot tank hits well enough to be used in T3, but it's fine for T2.
For T3 shields, your options are Grey Owlite and Omega Shell.

One more question
ok I guess ill do that and stick with Omega Shell. Thanks for all of the help but one more question... please bear with me >.< Ummm if I equip armor and helmets as costumes will it have any affect on the game?

Looks relatively low overall on the normal damage protection, to me. But I'm only half-decent at this so far; just how good IS the omega shell?
