Since most of us can't play.....if you can I hate you and if you can't, come to my arms....
Peaked at 4k, 4k+, then started dropping to 3.7k, and until the servers went boom, hovered around 3.7k to 3.9k.

"You [censored]! Stop making energy threads!"

But but....this is important! :p Whether or not this is a sign of market stabilization or the mystical powers of economics, or the people uniting to create a better world...probably too early to tell.

[Opinion Warning]
I do however, suspect it's the sellers actually making an intended effort to bring it down. No no I'm not going into that debate again please it's just my conjecture. If I'm right however, I just like to thank you for actually caring, even when you didn't really need to, since you paid real dollars and I well....am a cheapskate :p

Flame away.

Didn't everyone else get like

Didn't everyone else get like 5 bucks from their grandparents or something on Easter? I know I did. I have around 4 billion CE, so I didn't use it on here. But I imagine many others did.

Probably because

The jelly king palace moved from gate 1 to a much much tougher gate. Therefore jelly king runs become more difficult and take longer and are less likely to be a complete success. I think this may have resulted in the decrease in energy cost. Just a thought. But if the tier2 run most people are doing takes longer to run, the demand for energy will go down a lil bit.

I think it went down more

I think it went down more because buyers in general didn't need as much energy in the same span of time due to the difficulty of Tier 2 in the weekend set of gates. Demand went down, and price right alog with it.

Energy prices will always be bound by what buyers are willing to pay. It does no good for a seller to sell at a price that has no buyers. I think if we see, for instance, very profitable tier 1 and tier 2 gates, crowns go up and so do prices as demand for energy goes up because people will want to, and can make, more runs more often. When we see a drought of crown-earnings from gates, people need crowns more and so the price of energy drops as more sellers need to quickly sell energy.

I know my own lack of crowns to buy recipes and such was causing me to dump energy onto the market like mad.

In what way is Coral Phantom tougher? Honestly it's just as easy to waltz in to the palace as it was before.

@Feynt, ease of waltzing

@Feynt, ease of waltzing probably depends on skill of player and/or stars of gear. The Palace itself likely stayed at the same difficulty; but there are some killer levels above the palace itself, depending on how lucky/unlucky you are.

Huh, it's almost like the supply and demand pendulum swings both ways.

Man, we should really have a metaphor for this kind of market. I'm thinking... giant-swinging-weight-thingy?

Don't worry, it's only a matter of time until it starts swinging back the other way and people start whining again.

My theory is that energy

My theory is that energy prices will stay bound by the average number of crowns earned by 1 full run between towns, with tier 1 being a heavier influence than tier 2. So likely the price will never go above 6k and will often be around 4-5k.

Energy prices were relatively sky-high during preview because all crown sinks were 3x cheaper. Crowns were not in high demand; energy was.

So I think people have little to fear. We can't compare preview to release; the economic conditions are very different.

Jelly King run is harder now? I found it about the same difficulty/length. Heck, maybe even more porfitable than before O.0

hello

@feynt/G3/ajericho,
ajericho has the right of it. I play mostly with my brother, I bomb and sword, he swords and guns. His armor was a smattering of 2star lvl 1's. We generally do fine in tier2 (for example when jelly palace was at the 1st gate on the left), but we do a lot of kiting and crowd control. When we played the t2 gate at the right with the palace, there was more enemies. Like the floor with a million gremlins that someone posted pics of a while ago. And then there was more floors with devils that use projectiles. We are in the most basic of armors, cobalt w/defender shields. So when you have more constricted areas (tougher crowd control), more projectile enemies (tougher crowd control/less kiting) and more enemies that exploit the weakness of standard-city bought-cobalt armor, it all added up together to be a tougher road for me, and i guess i just assumed for everyone. It seems ajericho also found a similar experience since he mentioned the weekend gates being harder.

In fairness, i imagine if you have better weapons and more versatile armor, it may have been just as easy as ever.

PS. It was actually a relief when we reached the Jelly Palace, because it was the same as always and at least to me felt like the easiest few floors of the tier, when last week i found them to be (comparatively) the toughest few floors of the t2 run at gate 1.

I don't know if I was the

I don't know if I was the only one to notice this but right around when it was first dropping back below 4k a few days back there was some jerk trying to artificially raise the price by posting 100 bids at a time about 75-100 crowns over the current asking price. Over time he started splitting up his bids to make it less obvious to the casual observer what he was doing but there were bunches of 50+ bids appearing at once at 3:30 AM PST so it was pretty obvious was was going on anyway.

I feel pretty confident that there is no price fixing going on in the other direction because frankly it doesn't work. People are more than happy to just one-up each other forever, and putting in a bunch of bids at a lower price to make it look like the accepted price is lower doesn't work because the more bids there are at a price the more likely people are to one-up them.

I think the real determining factor is how badly people who buy CE need crowns. If they don't need crowns it's easy to just hold off until the price is higher, but if the majority of the people who bought CE need crowns to buy recipes or something then they're going to sell even if the price is lower than they want.

"Jelly King run is harder now? I found it about the same difficulty/length."

Totem Trouble is probably annoying for newer players and the Poison Retrodes are a bit more difficult than any mobs that were in Amber Lion. The lichen level just before Jelly Palace is also a bit harder, with flame turrets and the oil lichens that get caught on fire.

Honestly, I like it better because the Retrodes are great for swordstones and if you're patient you can get a guaranteed arena on every run. I solo all three rooms every time I do an arena and it's great cash and heat for the investment. Also I managed to get a Blaze Pepper from those flame turrets. Muahahhaaa.

Indeed, the newer enemies in the preceding levels are useful for drops. I'll admit to being clad in 4 star attire and swinging around a faust (an excellent slime destroying tool).

I would not be surprised if there's a price spike around next week when the upgrade tokens start to expire, and require replacing.

My theory

It's easter.
New players actually can't farm crowns because they are bad at the game and have no access to t2 without spending.
So they buy CE.
