Yes I do get killed a lot in Lockdown by hammers that is not why I dont want them in Lockdown. I dont want them in Lockdown because not everyone can have one and noobs tend to die in one hit by them. (im not in that group) so I think that they should be banned from Lockdown or at least lower Attack speed and Attack Damage.
Your thoughts?

/looks for the box containing Asukalan marked "break in case of QQer"

@Divisor that is basicaly only because SK does not corently have anything to sepporate users from users

Ok, no.
Just no.
Since I know that you only play T2 LD, I will analyze your points useing T2 as a reference.
"Not everyone can have them"
True, but as of now, it costs as much as an elevator pass. Not that expensive, though I sympathize with those ppl too young to have their own cards or Paypals or w/e. Ntm the fact that only Steam users currently can get it with ce (via Steam Trade) so this is pretty much your most valid point.
"noobs tend to die in one hit"
Those same noobs tend to die in 2-3 toothpick/sealed hits. And even then a skilled toothpicker can shut down such a noob equally easily as swinging the hammer at em. If they're dying that quickly, they're doing something wrong and should not complain.
"lower Attack speed or Attack Damage"
No. These things are already slow enough. I use a hammer in LD, and the stun-lock from an asi'd toothpick can pretty much shut me down, it takes so long to swing the stupid thing. As for damage, they're just an pure-elemental Sealed. The only reason you think they do "too much" damage is that you use Dusker, which *surpriiiiise* has no elemental defense. It's like using Drake Scale and whining that Sealeds hurt too much.
If anything, the toothpick is OP, we should nurf that <(-'o'-)>
Edit: You got sniped, Notthe =P

Strong? Yes.
Overpowered? No.
Hammers have a lot of mobility, and their damage is pure elemental, counteracting the oft seen pure Dusker in T2 and pure Skolver in T3 (I can't speak to T1). But "noobs" also die as quickly to a skilled Toothpick (which possesses similar mobility). <rhetorical>Should Toothpicks be changed as well?</rhetorical>
The main difficulty is that changes in PvP would need to be seen in PvE as well. I feel that ultimately, PvE is the heart of Spiral Knights; as such PvP should reflect PvE, rather than the converse.
With regards to "not everyone can have one": The DLC is honestly not prohibitively expensive. It was ~$3 at release, and if you're completely morally opposed to spending money on this game, it's probably at most 3k CE, which is (currently) about 2 weeks of using your mist to run KoA.
tldr; I think they're strong, but there will always be strong weapons. And it's not that expensive ._.

Now You guys have made me change my mind.. wheres the delete button?
D:
Lockdown is unbalanced in general.
