I was wondering while playing Spiral knights recently...What poison actually did.
As in...does it hurt the enemy AS WELL as not letting him heal.
I feel like a poison-y kind of knight and wanted an explanation on what poison did to enemies.
Thanks

Worth noting that it also increases the damage that is done to them.
So, for example, let's say you hit a Lumber with a poison vial. The following will happen:
The lumber will do decreased damage
The lumber will receive increased damage from your attacks
The lumber will not be able to be healed by anything (silkwings, menders)
Thus, poison is good for many situations.
On enemies, it causes them to receive damage from most sources of healing, from Gremlins using a health capsule to the various healing spells by Menders. The only one I'm not sure on are Silkwings; I think it just negates a Poisoned enemy from being healed by them due to different underlying mechanics.
An affected mob also takes about 5-15% more damage depending on the intensity of the Poison, and their attack power is about halved.
I feel you. I always trend towards wanting to be a 'poison-y' type in games where it is viable. Hell, on final fantasy tactics i super modded it with the gameshark and my favorite custom class was a ridiculously over powered BioMage that casted Bios spells (poison based) at the rate of NOW (it was turn based combat with casting times). He also wielded a handy poison pistol. <3
A couple things to note about poison in SK. It's primarily underwhelming. It is very inefficient in solo/2-person play. Any weapons that add poison are so nerfed in their damage output that they only pull even with their non-poison versions in parties of 4. Even then everything is so easy to kill for the most part that the only truly effective way to poison in with vials. It's unfortunate. Venom Vieler cause weak poison making it not terribly effective. Plague needle is just a weak blitz needle who's poison doesn't make up the difference. Again, another reason for this is in any typical vana party you are gonna have poison vials so it makes more sense to use vials+blitz.
Just my 2 cents. And this coming from someone who would have gladly went poison heavy build if it made sense.
Poison will not allow the affected person to heal, and it also decreases their damage output. It however, does not do damage. :)
