nice information

I take my hat off to you, sir/madam, for giving us lots of key information, such as what armor you use and how many weapon slots you use (even if it's not relevant to this particular question). Excelsior!

So anyway, the obvious choice is Barbarous Thorn Shield, which is the only shield (other than Swiftstrike Buckler) to give an offensive bonus. That's easily the best choice in piercing shields, for people who use swords.

In elemental shields, the obvious choice is Grey Owlite Shield. I agree with you that it's ugly. I don't have a better choice, but someone here will.

In shadow shields, consider Crest of Almire (if you can do FSC), or maybe Dread Skelly.

i already have 4* snarby and crest shields but nothing for Ele. i was thinking about Dragon Scale but would sacrificing normal be worth it?

No.

So you don't like the 5* version of the owlite series, right?

How about the heater sheild.

Comes of from the mighty defender, has ele and freeze resist.

No, don't take a Dragon Scale

No, don't take a Dragon Scale shield. No normal defense is really a breaker, as a lot of things do normal damage, even in T3.

If you really don't want the owlite, as said Atrumvindex, the next best for elemental is the Heater Shield. Owlite is better because it has 1 more status resistance, and both its status are the most dangerous ones, compared to Heater's freeze resistance which is not that useful. But I guess you can make do with it.

But as said Bopp, experienced swordsmen often favor offense and therefor take a BTS with little regard of what they wil encounter.

The only shield one need is BTS.

.

Heater shield is your next best choice to the Grey Owlite Shield (though I have many derogatory comments about my opinion on choicing fashion over function). Keep in mind that the Heater Shield has significantly less Elemental protection then the Qwlite (I tend to notice this in strat 6 arena turret waves). So, I would really value Elemental UV on a heater shield.

If we're going by aesthetics,

If we're going by aesthetics, I quite like Grey. Its the holiest-looking shield we get. Personally, I like Dread Skelly the best with its particle effect.

I don't have much to contribute to this thread, but . . .

Well, since you already have a Dark Thorn Shield . . .

My answer for elemental shields is the same as everyone else's (including yours!).
The Grey Owlite Shield is the best elemental shield for you.

I also agree with Fradow's opinion on the Dragon Scale Shield.
I once crafted a Dragon Scale Shield due to all of the fuss I heard about it. Although I feel that the reliability of this shield might have been exaggerated in some circumstances, I do think that the trade-off is too high and not worth it. It has no special abilities. It does have useful poison and fire resist, but if you don't walk into traps often, that's not very useful since it can't take too many hits from enemies with mixed damage. Maybe if it had a special ability, it would be worth it (like the Barbarous Thorn Shield having lower piercing and normal defense than the Aegis in exchange for sword damage bonus).
After awhile, I just stopped using it. I had much better shields for the occasions that I might use it in.

+1 to Heater Shield being your next best bet for an elemental shield.
Elemental med or higher might be enough to help add some more durability and competitiveness to the Grey Owlite Shield.
While it isn't the prettiest of shields, the current design appears to be a placeholder. So perhaps they will make it more appealing in the future, or maybe make it uglier. lol

My first shield was a dragon

My first shield was a dragon scale shield.
It did not make my life easier, lemme tell you that.
Though I do believe I have heard it is more useful for more ranged characters.
Then again, that is not you, so irregardless!
