Well hello,

Below, I've posted some of my Lockdown footage from both T2 and T3 for the sole purpose of having some of the pros out there critique my strategy, skills, technique, etc. Please do not post a comment stating anything else. Thanks.

Gear:

Skolver Cap
Skovler Coat
Final Flourish - ASI Medium
Gran Faust - ASI Medium
Gigawatt Pulsar - N/A
Two Tetra Heart Pendants

Note: I'm posting both the good and the bad battles (even though it hurts me to watch sometimes X( ). These are not highlight films (although I may crank a few of those out in the future) Also, I know and embrace that I am a clone of one style because quite honestly, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em (and it looks rather epic as well). ^_^

Bulby, I see the majority of your deaths is when you are out of gas. So, I think you are good at combat, but keep watch on your gas. If you're low on gas, try to hurry back to base for it to refill or just someplace away from all of the action. Another tip for combat, try to predict your opponent's moves and predict how they will attack you and counter it accordingly (maybe you already know this).

Thanks guys

@Kyodas

Yah, I gathered that. I rely a little too much on my FF I guess.

@Zader:

Indeed, I am not a very economical knight. I burn gas and fast. XD I'll keep this in mind though. As far as prediction goes however, this is one of my biggest challenges because I honestly do not know what my opponent is going to do next. If I did, I probably wouldn't need help. :D

Thanks again for your tips guys!

Well, it seems that your main problem is...

You don't use a hammer.

Everyone knows that hammer spam is the best strategy.

I got nothing helpful.

Solid play overall, I really don't think there's anything I can tell you that you don't know already. Generally though, distinguish between your defensive and offensive styles. When you defend, stay defensive and don't make your move until you're ready. When you're offensive, go big or go home. Juggle a bit tighter, and work on manipulating your opponent's movement more before diving in -- control those multi hits, and make them go where you want to. And when it's not 1v1, be a bit more careful. You take a lot of hits in those situations; anyone would, but they can be avoided by playing defensively and kiting a bit more.

The occasional full combo is fine, but it should really be a last resort for when you're out of shield. It leaves you a little too open to counterattacks when you do otherwise.

Your T2 is much better than your T3, and I think that's because among other things, sealeds are more dangerous. You're gonna have to play a lot more defensively there to do what you need to do. Don't be afraid to go head to head with them, though, when they're diving in for their moves -- you don't need to avoid them before countering if you can intercept them. A tighter juggle would again help you here.

Otherwise, you're great man. Keep up the LD'in.

@Hipster

Thanks man. I'll do my best to keep that in mind. Like others have mentioned, I need to learn to predict opponents. Right now I'm assuming that "predicting" = "intercepting" attacks and to properly predict means to get the timing down to hit my enemy as we close in so that I'm the one firing the first shot within range.
This is kind-of what good guardians do, they don't move as fast as strikers, but they really don't need to if they can hit the striker before it hits them. To get a hit, you must be within range of your opponent's sword as well. With this in mind, it doesn't seem at all unreasonable to be able to ward off a striker that has boost while you don't. You just may not get a second chance due to the lack of shield-cancelling.

Like Zaderules said, you need

Like Zaderules said, you need to manage you boost better. You should keep an eye on your booster and when it's about to run out back off from the opponent and shoot the first two bullets from your Pulsar (using all of the bullets means reload which can leave you vulnerable). And also at the beginning of the first video, when you respawned after the opponent got to your base and killed you, you boosted down there knowing that there are opponents on the point, not a very good idea since you will run out of boost while they still have a full tank(?) of boost and that will get you killed easily (especially around Craftyzen who isn't easy to kill).

BEST VID SO FAR

No Auto-target, you have my respect.

THIS IS A REAL VIDEO OF LD, the rest is just CRAP !!!!

You should be first in the lame "Best LD players", just because you shows that YOU DON'T NEED OOO AIMING FOR YOU.

Thanks for the vid, I enjoy it.

A few strategic suggestions

A few strategic suggestions on the first tier 3 video. Bear in mind that I'm not the person to ask about fighting style though.

- This is a tough match, in that the opposing team had almost total dominance, and was camped out at your locker room cutting people down one by one as they left. Yet I noticed several times where, when low on health, you passed up opportunities to dart back in and heal on the heart pads. So you ended up dead for 15 seconds instead. Keep an eye on your health and use your advantages.

- Despite you having a fair number of live teammates, we rarely saw them in this video. You repeatedly charged a heavily fortified enemy position solo. Where were your teammates? Could they have been more successful in capturing points if they'd had more support? Contrary to belief, killing players is only the secondary goal of lockdown (behind capturing points).

- Don't hesitate to experiment with different styles- you can switch mode many times during the match. When your locker room was camped out, that might have been a good time to try the recon cloak with a teammate, to flank your opponents.

- As a general rule: if 3-4 of your opponents are on one control point, they are not on all the others. You can do surprisingly well by using locker room healing to dart in and out (remaining a live, and viable, threat) for an extended time, keeping those fighters engaged while your teammates mob the reduced defenders at other control points. Think asymmetric warfare. (Earlier today, I got 5 of the opposing players to chase me for a good 30sec while my teammates captured multiple control points. It was pretty funny, and running away from superior opponents is pretty much my best role)

More auto aim QQ

Having to use auto-aim is a disadvantage.

If auto-aim was an advantage, then all the best players would use it.

It's idiocy to think otherwise. "I'm so great at LD i wear skolver with max pierce+max shock. I have ASI Very HIgh on all my swords. I do everything i possibly can to have an advantage. But i don't use auto-aim because that would be lame and too much of an advantage."
^
You can claim you think this way, but it doesn't exist. You should thank them for using auto-aim because it doesn't work as well as manual aiming, thus giving you ONE MORE advantage over the other player.

Responses:

@Pauling:

To be honest, I'm not even trying to capture in these matches. This is just to demonstrate my tactics and fighting style. I am NOT trying to win any of the matches I listed. I'm just trying to give examples of my basic combat skill and technique. The reason I'm not going back for health is because I want people to see how I react with low health. I know I had a lot of live teammates but you don't always have 'em and I'm showing my skill against a large group without them. Thank you for your feedback nonetheless though. :D

@Pawn, Canozo, Ranger, Feller, Fallconn, and anyone else that wants to jump on the AA bandwagon:

DO NOT turn this into a thread for arguing about auto-target. I WILL request a moderator to have you removed. This thread is dedicated to critiquing me and making me a better Lockdown player alone. There are plenty of threads for arguing AA so go there to rage about it. I've chosen to use what I've chosen to use and if you have nothing to say about how I could improve my style then simply say nothing.

Bulby, I appreciate that you

Bulby, I appreciate that you wanted to showcase your fighting style- but if you seriously want critique about how to improve in lockdown, then you have to accept that it's not all about fighting. Strategy is as important as tactics. If you can find a way to gut the entire opposing team's strategy, pull them off defending for a long period of time, or capture a ton of control points without striking a blow, then you've done more for the victory than briefly going 3 vs 1 on a control point whose ownership is barely in question... no matter how epic the fight looks. Your tier 2 video does a decent job there at times, as you draw your multiple opponents along a while, working to distract them and keep them off control points as much as you do to kill them.

This is not to say that there's no place for damaging the other team and keeping them dead. That's very important, and you'll get some good advice here. Your second video T3 was generally better than the first, partly because of good teamwork and support from your allies- you won more fights, and helped to take and hold more control points. (You also made some good choices about when to pull back and strike strategically rather than leading the charge)

But your fights in video 1 were so imbalanced that you ended up dead far more often then you needed to be, and you passed up a health advantage in the form of your locker room... a good fighter uses every advantage at their disposal. Don't worry that it would affect your showcase of skills: it's not a cheap trick to use your terrain, or to work as part of a team.
