No, we are not all noobs - beware of Askulan (or whatever his name is), though.
1. To get to tier 2, you need to finish a certain Hall of Heroes mission with full 2* gera.
2. You can get instantly to the second tier, but EITHER:
>You have to have played the entire of the tier below it (also applies to tier 3, but you have to do both beneath it)
>You have to pay 200cr.
3. The four gates have different bosses (one per gate) and they all have different stratum themes, so different gates will also give different types of loot.
4. I'd say about ~65% through the game (personally, I'd get the antigua (even though I'm a sworder) but that's just me).
5. Yes, but it takes ages. As in, years. Besides, there are better elemental swords, IMO - again, the Antigua is underrated.
Oh, and by the way (this might just be me) you'll get Ascendant Alchemist before you even hit tier 3.

2. If you know subtown(THat's depth 8 and depth 23 and IS and ALWAYS the same in gates) You can pay there for 200cr, just click the 2nd star when you enter the arcade.(or through missions panel) just clarifying (sorta)
3. Oh btw, The other 4 are dormant, AND DO NOT Autosell, Dont ever ever sell the purple ones, or you'll get the worst levels in the game(Fiend ones, But I just shard blitz them to death.)
You find normal fiends hard? How about shock fiends?
Let's see now...
If the stratum theme is Fiend, it is probably going to be normal (let's say, 70% chance of no statuses), and, if not, will be balanced between the four statuses, leaving a 7.5% chance of shock fiends.
If the theme is Shock, it will be balanced evenly between the six monster families, and thus you have a 16.7% chance (on average) of having shock fiends.
Therefore, the moral is this:
COLLECT VALESTONE ONLY AND SPAM IT IN SHOCK STRATA!!!

Rasin's overexaggerating when he says years :x It'll probably only take a few months if you play each day :o I have a Sentenza after a year I started playing, but that's because I was lazy and skipped at least 1/2 a year in the middle :x
50~65 more like for sealed sword. Really depends on who you find to get help from (leech off of :3 ) or if you end up completely soloing.
I'm not exaggerating, just I can only go on for 1 hour per day. It seems so normal to do only one RJ run a day (max) that I assume that everyone else does. Please excuse me.
OK, I'll re-adjust that statement: It will probably take 350+ hours, IMO.
@Raisinfist maybe if i buy heaps of cystal energy then do some haven to core runs and then buy the Divine Avenger from the auction house it would be faster
divine avenger is an evolved boss token sword. those sell for more than the ones that you buy & craft normally. and if youre buying a DA, youll probably be paying the unbind price, the token price, the 5* price and a little more so that the seller can profit

Well, to do cradle-core runs, you need to get T3 access - ie. it will probably cheaper, when trying to get to the T3 requirements, to farm RJP for cash to get 4*, buy the Sealed Sword and buy the recipes later. IDK though, never compared the prices :S
