While I know that the lack of new content is a bore for some, I think the lack of servers for players in Asia, Oceania, and South America, etc., is a more serious but easily resolved issue. Put us all on an equal footing before you work on new content. If you approve of this, please put a +1 in the reply section to show your support.

I'm telling you, Three Rings, doing this for us might just be the thing to convince more people to become fans and customers...

And since OOO started a brand

And since OOO started a brand new game, and they needed brand new servers and probably most of things are free in there to lure in new players, for now all other games have to feed the new kid in OOO family so there will be no servers.

Then explain to me why they can fund European servers without going bankrupt?

Do remember how long it actually took us to get even them.

I don't believe they're holding back on servers in other locations purely out of spite or just to troll players who aren't close to either of the other two server locations.

Yeah, artists. Go build some servers!

Are the European servers in Europe now? When the game opened, they were all in north america, which led to some griping; I suspect that any decision to add servers in europe would have been based on hard numbers indicating that there were sufficient players to support the game.

Art and accessories are easy to add- lock an artist in a room with a pencil for a few hours. Servers require translations, investment of capital, new onsite admins, monthly hosting bills, and lots of other new risks. (not to mention the need for a new GM who speaks the local language or three) Deciding to pursue a new geographic market is a pretty big business decision, even in the age of the Internet.

Exactly- the decision to

Exactly- the decision to commit hardware to a new part of the world came later. (and as far as I know, the GMs also work the English servers- they were hired with specific languages in mind)

it was nice to see OOO dip a toe in the waters with a few translations out the door, but I recall that OOO had trouble getting into the Asian market in the past with one of their other games. That may have affected their decision on which translations to offer.

Well, here it is. Another server petition.

It would be good to have an Oceania/South America/Asia server out there (preferably all three). I don't live over there, but I know what bad lag is like. The only problem is, OOO won't do anything about it anytime soon - it costs them a whole load of money. At the moment, you're a minority, and they aren't going to pay through their collective metaphorical nose for a minority.
OOO is a BUSINESS. They need to keep an income, and setting up a new server takes too much money. ATM they're making profit by releasing new accessories. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

The answer? Somehow get a worldwide strike going on to stop people buying CE. Then, maybe, they'll answer and do something. Then CE prices will shoot through the roof, people will strike against the strikers driving the market up so high, people with CE and any sense will keep it, and nobody will buy any of it. The result is a game-wide crash of the CE market, which will irreperably break the game.
Then you're left with no game, whatsoever, and all due to trying to get a server.

Well, they opened an EU server. Let's just hope they open the other ones sometime soon.

Sorry to have to be negative, but that's the way it is, even though I think that this is more important than new accessories or even new game content.

I want to repeat Asuka here

I want to repeat Asuka here because she makes a good point. OOO is busy making a Dr. Who MMO and a lot of resources are going into that, with the rest going into their other products (Puzzle Pirates, Whirled, SK). If you weren't aware, Dr. Who is a pretty damn big franchise and a great opportunity. Holding a CE boycott is a great way to stall the progress of that and further prolonging the R&D of new content for this game too. Even if you don't care for their other stuff, look at it this way: the sooner they get that done, the sooner they can allocate resources back to SK and with the jump in dosh from all the Whovians they can afford another server in Asia/Oceania.

and will be more if OOO make servers in that location. many people had gone from sp for the latency insue.
Please put more, one in Asia and One in sudamerica, it is much more important than more new contents or

I will sign this, however, this is not something OOO can just go "okay we're making that" at.

Servers are extremely expensive to buy and maintain.
The EU server was made because the second biggest majority was EU. Don't think it didn't cost them money, it did cost a lot and it took time both to save those funds while also buying their bread and paying to maintain the already existing servers.

I agree......

look again I know that petitions don't generate servers but its very frustrating to have to preemptively block or swing at the right time. Most of the time I'm punished for having bad latency and drag the rest of the team down in high tier raids. I wont lie i have put a fair amount of money into this game cause i genuinely think this is fantastic and needs to expand but, its depressing when i cant even run teir 2 without suffering a huge amount, even with 5* gear.

new servers would be great and would even rekindle a few of my friend's will to play.

@Enclavean
Your post exactly, with lag and ping problems, everything seems to hit and dodging at close range hardly works. It's quite fun for me to play with a risky playstyle and not take hits, which can be a lot harder or near impossible depending on the amount of lag there is. And Lockdown....yeah....things depend a lot on pinpoint timing there, and timing itself is a big part of SK gameplay. Ah well, no need for me to go on, it'll be a while before they'll decide on a new server, judging from the replies here.

I agree with this, Sega and three rings. If you want to make money on this game ( via buying stuff in game ). Then listen to what I say. If you put servers up in other countries if they like the game enough people can buy stuff, However since you have not done that and only focus on new content that leaves lots of players who experience lag eventually Rage Quitting this game from dieing on a boss a thousand times from lag and running out of energy. Consider improving the players experience instead of trying to add you content because these players won't be able to enjoy the new content and thus you will lose players and opportunities to get money from said players. Just add new servers in already, or else you are going to lose even more players. The reason this game is not more popular than it already is, is because of the lag outside of the US. If you had fixed this in the first place this game would me a lot more popular and you would have a lot more players. Put up the server already!

I'm from South America, use a 300kbps internet and can still maintain a yellow ping (which is cool, I almost never feel like I'm lagging at all and when I do it's my fault most of the time with steam suddenly updating/etc) I don't see why we need so desperately of new servers. After all I don't think you guys can get much worse than that to play with a red ping (and if you did you would probably have ragequited by now).

That's pretty common in the MMO business. A studio creates a title, and then sells the software to companies in other regions for a fee, let them make profit out of subscription (or whatever business model that suits them) and handle the support / billing, and then the studio sells "upgrades" to these companies in the future. People who have played Ragnarok Online should have seen something similar before.

That's Hong Kong and Taiwan. I know it's from Asia but, there's one more fact in some of us in here, we might have problems reading 'traditional chinese' letters. Traditional chinese letters are extremely different from Simplified Chinese. Some of the players from Singapore prefer English ye know, for Malaysians who know Chinese, some are okay, some don't, also that Malay and Indian people wouldn't bother going there and read those letters. Thailand and Vietnam people would be not pleased to see this as well. It's best we stick with international language.

And so, we demand Three Rings to branch out a SEA server, or Australia, somewhat.

I do really hope ye can take out a geography book and read some of us. owO

EDIT: Also, from what people used Chinese in this thread to talk about 4 months ago, they use Simplified Chinese to interact.

In North America

You SEA people may not like it, but you guys are all considered "Asian". That includes Mainland China (which already has 56 races or more), Hong Kong (mostly Chinese), Taiwan (Chinese but also aboriginals), Japan (Japanese obviously), Korea (let's stick with the South one for now), Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. I know they are all different but in westerner's eyes, you are all Asian.

I won't be surprised OOO will setup individual servers for Mainland China, Japan, Korea and then one big SEA server for anyone that looks / feels like Asian but don't belong to any of the above. But that's because of the written language and play style difference, or to satisfy online regulation of various countries.

It's still a scummy move. The company that OOO sold us out to won't even let us sync our current accounts onto the new server–which means that if I want to play without lag, I have to abandon my $200 account and start over. In fact, OOO are even banning IP addresses from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. from the main server in order to force them to play on the privatized server.

Just because the developers of Ragnarok got away with this doesn't mean that OOO should follow in their footsteps.

Unfortunately you can't really blame OOO. The market in NA and EU is way, way too small to fund SK's development due to competition (WoW, D3, GW2 just to name a few) and (*sigh*) development that listens to the wrong voice. (Yes Bomb Patch, I'm looking at you.)

And if you open the server to very big market like Mainland China, latency going to kill them (or us, depends on where servers will be located). Not to mention some people would get offended when they saw Cao Ni Ma spamming over their screen.

But look at the bright side. You have a head start and it shouldn't cost another $200 to recreate your $200 account on new server.

We aren't moving for what we had lots of experiences in here, thus we got used to it.
We, too, still do want Three Rings to come over and hatch a server in here for us, if possible.
Like Metagenic said, he ain't going to abandon his $200 spent on his account, whereas I ain't going to abandon my precious 1 year old time spent in this game. (for some reasons that I think SK is only what I play nowadays, the only MMORPG)
