Problem: Blitz does 2500 damage on charge. Freeze gun does 400 damage on charge.

You have to stand still for a whole 2 seconds to deliver the blitz charge, the alchemer only one. Gives less time for Vana to mace you.
Also, richochets hit multiple slags in FSC, dealing 800 damage all in total, not to mention a 90% chance of freeze on a direct hit.
Alchemers can be used to attack Trojans when they're facing you, and the Hail Driver and Magma Driver are especially useful for this.

I do admit I need a better gun though.

Question, why are there two Rangerwills?

1) as already mentionned damage. The difference is overwhelming. I don't think I even need to do the maths to prove that.

2) freeze. As Juance said, it can fail. But that's not it : every single little damage will break it (even that water). Contrary to Shiver, Vana will not be freezed again before you do the next charge. He will probably do much more attacks that way than with Shiver (with a Shiver, it's totally possible to do the entire fight without him attacking even once).

3) random people are not going to carry a freezing achemer most of the time. AP and Polaris are more shiny, and this alchemer is arguably the worst (there have been arguments on that. The majority opinion is that freeze doesn't damage, break itself, and hinder kiting). If you invest in a gun for FSC, you may as well get a BN. Or at least an AP.

4) if you don't want to carry specific weapons, you may as well try to do it with swords. Though I doubt you can succeed that in PUG, where there is often 1 or 2 person who don't have a clue of what's going on.

All that to say : no, Shiver and Blitz Needle is still better. It's still the most efficient method compared to how difficult it is to do (in case I don't exprim myself well : it's ridiculously easy for a fast kill time). Granted, there are other valid methods, but they are either way more difficult to achieve (all swords, bombing) or take way more time to kill (most gunning methods save autoguns).

If you want to PUG vana just bring a shiv. Most people carry a gun of some kind, so if you have shiv, then you can freeze him constantly. If your team really sucks (or is horribly equipped), then you can do what I do. Both freeze and damage vana yourself. Just have your other players water vana constantly (make sure they know to throw next to vana, not directly at him).

Just incase you haven't caught on to the above comments, Hail on Vana isn't really new, and you are by far not the first person to invent it (Considering I have used it on him 3 months before this thread was created and like 50,000,000,000,000 have used it months before me, in fact before I have even heard of this game probably).

We didn't really get excited about it because the damage is sort of poor.

Here's a thought... if you're all about safety and must always use the Hail, instead of constantly spamming Hail charges / shots over and over on a frozen Vana... pull out a Blitz and needle him once you freeze him. It shouldn't be that tough in comparison to spamming Hail.
