Jelly King needs to be optional

I'm tired of this. Jelly Palace, never mind the King itself, is too difficult for 90% of players. Every gate that spawns with Jelly Palace is one less gate that I can use.

At the end of the Red Carpet Runaround there should be two elevators with group buttons in front of them. One takes you to the Jelly King, and the other takes you to a map with a more typical difficulty for the last map in T2. Have us fight the Jelly Royal Guard or whatever instead.

Just go up.

You can always choose to go up from depth 16 rather than down the last elevator.

yeah I'd have to admit, this

yeah I'd have to admit, this only matters if you haven't unlocked tier 3 and want to get there using a particular gate, or if you don't want to start off the 3rd tier without any vitapods / vials leftover from tier 2. but that should be something you can work around. although i wouldn't mind an alternate path myself since I can't handle the Jelly King yet, but would like to press on for more heat / crowns :)

maybe instead of alternate elevators, there should be and alternate path through his level? where you go off exploring some side area instead of entering the throne room or whatever that boss arena is considered

There's multiple other gates

There's multiple other gates you can use and you can always go up the elevator instead of fighting him. Jelly King is completely optional.

I just won with an entire party of first timers...one of whom stayed dead 2/5ths of the fight (and more if you count the time he spent dying on the way there...)... and I'm not even good at this.

Anyway, I don't see the point, wanna skip jelly king...save your energy, go back to Haven. It's that easy :o There's 3 other gates full of non jiggly goodness. Let the JK gate be itself.

Crown and heat rewards

Crown and heat rewards increase exponentially the further down you are in a tier. That means that if you quit before the last floor you're missing out on a LOT of loot. I won't do gates that spawn with the Jelly Palace because the energy investment in early floors doesn't pay off, and neither should you if you find that most groups die at the King.

Every gate that spawns with the Jelly Palace means fewer options for the average player, which is a disadvantage for everyone running T2. In that sense, the Jelly King is not optional.

there is always non jelly

there is always non jelly gates up, don't see how this is a issue that needs any special attention when there are so many other problems.

even if you skip the jelly

even if you skip the jelly king, i find myself getting around 7K on a tier 2 run with jelly king in it. i think thats a pretty good return on the 80 CE investment

Dude, the Jelly Palace is AMAZING for crowns and heat. Moreso than any other T2 in the game. Meanwhile the Jelly King himself only offers up his Jelly Gems. If you leave just before the king, than the run will still more than pay for itself.

Agree with the responses so

Agree with the responses so far: This isn't a problem.

Jelly King is 1 of the 4 gates active at any given time. If you aren't in T3 yet, then there is absolutely no reason you have to select his gate. If you are in T3, but still fear the JK, then you can just pay the 200 crowns (or whatever immediate access cost is for T3) and skip him, or do the other 3 gates.

^ It's 500 crowns to jump to

^ It's 500 crowns to jump to tier 3. And even before I hit tier 3, an organized party of poison, fire, and curse users can obliterate Jelly King. So not fighting JK is making you lose out of experience and practice to get better. It isn't going to get easier since Vanaduke loves to set you aflame.

I guess it's true that the rewards for the rest of the palace are pretty nice. That makes me feel better about it.

Yeah, the jelly palace is really nice for cash. And you'll get a feel for how groups will fair against the jelly king by how well they perform in the palace. I real telltale sign of a bunch of sissies is if they choose to skip the NE gate on lvl 16. If you can't do well in that room, there's no way you're taking down the king.

Off topic but I think that

Kinda off topic but I think that the boss strata shouldn't ALWAYS be around. It'd be a lot more fun if they were a rare occurrence; it's kind of annoying knowing that out of 4 gates, there's always one where I'm pretty much guaranteed to fail if I join a random group. And it's usually the most popular gate, too.

Now see I am more in favor of your idea. I think there are far too many JK gates each week and everyone is always running them.

OP if you don't like to do the JK then just leave when you get down to the elevator before the boss level that way you don't waste your 10 energy on the JK level. It's always on the same depth so don't make excuses.

Problem solved.
