I haven't seen one of the weekend lotteries in forever, and I think they need to make a return.

For those who don't know, on certain weekends Three Rings held lotteries every hour just for players online. Players won prizes like 1000CE, Heat Amplifiers, Trinket Slots, etc. They really didn't affect the market much and some people got lucky and got rewarded for being online.

We should bring them back, especially because when they were held, there wasn't nearly as much to the SK universe as there is now. For example, there's no reason a costume or accessory couldn't be a prize. Or maybe a Lockbox or Mirrored Lockbox. Or maybe one of those pets that were recently on the market, etc.

I think that it'll cause some increased traffic to the game. From personal experience, when more people were on for the lotteries, we actually played more in the clockworks than at other times. We were all there, so why not right?

I loved the lotteries. I'm not asking for them every weekend, but they should really make a comeback.

I remember those

It lagged horribly on the hour. Anyone who was in the Clockworks while this happened knows what I mean. The lotteries were more of an incentive to buy energy packs to get the prizes someone else won than for the community. Does anyone else remember the flaming that went on after every lottery on the forum? Yes, I used to scavenge the forum; I think it was in general or something. After every lottery there was one or two threads flaming the user who won, following a mail and whisper spam to the winner seconds after they won in the game. Everyone would log in for the few minutes before the lottery and log out immediately after. "But the winners should be happy they got stuff, hurr." Yes, happy they got stuff; are they also happy to be receiving hate mail/whispers for the next two days? I know someone who won and they received over twenty letters and fifty whispers within ten seconds of winning. They logged out to avoid the spam. The lotteries also meant more CE introduced into the economy, lowering its overall value due to greater amounts being available; though a thousand every hour may seem insubstantial the lottery occurred every hour on the hour for two days, meaning 48kCE every weekend for two or three weekends consecutively. "There are derpthousand herp people in this game, what would be the harm of doing this again?" To the players who do win, harassment from sore losers. To Three Rings, less people are buying CE because they expect the lottery to reward them for sitting and doing nothing instead of running the Clockworks or crafting. Does that mean I hate it? No, but it interferes with their energy sales and causes players to be harassed.

I agree that players got

I agree that players got harassed, but that's a simple fix: don't display the name who won. Just say a winner was picked.

I never experienced that much lag during those peak times. So we differ on that.

As far as the CE, yeah it devalues it a bit. But nothing that significant and it rebounds within a day. It's like if you tried to purposely sell 100 lots of energy into the market, you'll never affect it for more than a short time. Even if you did it with 480 sets (2 days, 1000 energy per winner per hour) it will affect it. Maybe for 2-3 days.

That, and you could just give some accessories away and such.

There's no reason it couldn't work. As for the lag, I can't say I've experienced it, but I do accept that it's a possibility and likely happened.
