Can you get any accessory through an Iron Lockbox or only certain types?
Iron Lockbox
How about Auras and Wolver Tails?
And do you mean that I can't pull Divine items of all sorts or just Divine wings?
Is there anything in Iron Lockboxes that are even worth opening them for? If so, what?
Sorry for all the questions, but I couldn't find any of this through Google.
Basically, if it isn't a promo item or mission item, it comes from a lockbox.
You can get everything except dragon wings, valkyrie wings, love aura, monster pockets, birthday candle, party hat, party blowout, tails tails, and the crests
"I think Psycho meant valk wings, not divine wings."
True story.
I always forget what those are...-.-
You can get just about anything.
But then, you could also win the lottery. My advice to you is not to invest. Chances are that you'll end up losing out.
Yeah, if you don't believe Fehzor, just type the words 'barrel belly' or 'maid headband' into the AH search bar.
Many seem to be at 2,500 to 3,000 crowns. But be aware! They require a silver key (750 Crystal Energy) to open!
Theres a low chance that you may get a Shadow Key. i got one from the first lockbox i opened.
I got a free iron box from a friend, is it worth spending 750ce on a key to open it ?
Sorry for keeping the thread alive....maybe I should've started a new one, but...who is opening all the boxes? I just got one from the prize wheel. However, like Tacohz wondered...the cost of a silver key does not excite me. And, I've gotten thee dreaded maid headband when I had a silver key from a promo...ugh, what was OOO thinking?!
People who can afford it.
In the long run, opening lockboxes is profitable when averaged out. Because the rare items are so desirable, they go for a fortune and effectively cancel out the other crap. People don't tend to do that, though, because it's incredibly risky and you need a fair amount of marketing experience to find buyers with good prices.
"In the long run, opening lockboxes is profitable when averaged out."
I'm not sure about this.
1) Surely this depends on market conditions: it could be sometimes true and at other times false.
2) The rich players I know all merch as well, and can therefore afford to eat some losses. Are they really profiting from the box-opening, overall? How many keep track?
3) If it's certain that opening boxes is profitable in the long run, why are there any left in the AH? The supply of keys is limitless, as long as one has CE. Logically, one should keep opening as long as one has CE to spare.
Because it's gambling. The long run is really, really long. Like 100+ boxes long. The odds are overwhelming that you're going to lose, but you may luck out (read: <1% chance). The boxes on the AH come from your everyday player who views lockboxes as a cool 5k cr from the prize wheel. The people who routinely open lockboxes are wealthier folk who open the boxes they get from the wheel, usually just buying a key and opening them in the middle of the run. They tend to only buy lockboxes off the AH when they happen upon a silver key for whatever reason. Sure, you get the odd player who buys them en masse and opens them all at once, but most people just open the ones they get and pace themselves so that they only use excess income they can recover easily.
I'm questioning the fact that players with plenty of CE (who can easily afford to open hundreds) don't buy them all up and open them, if profit is assured in the long run.
Except that it isn't assured. There's no guarantee that in 100+ boxes, your best item wont be a canteen.
But:
"In the long run, opening lockboxes is profitable when averaged out. [...] The long run is really, really long. Like 100+ boxes long."
Therefore, if what you say is correct, it is rational to just keep opening boxes so long as one can afford to open over a hundred. Of course profit's not guaranteed (I was wrong to choose "assured"), but if you're right about these broad figures, it is still the rational course of action.
I am suggesting that perhaps it isn't profitable at all, even if you average out all the lockboxes ever opened.
Not saying it's so. But. . . possible, no?
Theoretically, yes, I believe it's possible. Practical, not in the slightest. Wouldn't even be the most profitable endeavor you could do in that time.
Lemme boil it down: are you sure that it's even profitable at all, on average? It seems to me that it is likely not.
Can't say I'm certain as I don't have the data tables of drop chances and market values on me, but I believe that the massive profits on rare items, coupled with the fair chance to break even or obtain rare colors of more common accessories, make opening lockboxes theoretically, if slightly, profitable.
An iron lockbox can get you ALMOST any accessory.
There are a few off-limit ones, unless I'm mistaken, excluding the mission badges.
Like the Dragon/Divine wings, things you can get from the Mirrored lockbox and Monster pockets.
