I miss him so much.
Will we ever see the return of tortodrone?
Meh, I wish they'd bring him out the storage, I never even get a chance to see him =/
They could never decide what to do with him. In the original beta, a pair of tortodrones served as the final boss fight. Later, the tortodrone was a special wandering monster, and the fight was purely optional.
But either way, tortodrones were very cool. I hope they'll come back somehow, even if just to wander haven peacefully.

Hey guys, let's all read into this way too deeply!

And people wonder why OOO doesn't want to tell us everything they are working on in case they scrap something half way through...

EVEN MORE PROOF
Tortodrome: noun. A deadly arena battle. Two tortodrones enter, forced to duel to the death.
But wait! Spiral HQ has dispatched you to rescue these gentle giants, ancient relics of the clockworks' true purpose. You must battle legions of gremlin captors to free a rare mating pair of tortodrones from their cruel torment. Enraged, they will attack anything once freed, but you must guide them down a long and dangerous passage (without either tortodrone dying) to the elevator, and safety. Expert animal trainers from spiral hq will be waiting to calm the tortodrones once they reach haven.
* The above description is a total work of fiction. But it might make a cool danger mission, and keeping something alive would be a nice change of pace from the usual whack a gremlin task.
Maybe they can put them in the danger missions!!!!!!!
Excuse me... Mating? Mating robots? I know this game is pretty fantasy based, but that's just ridiculous. And M rated.
Yes, Nick said he will make a comeback sometime in the future :P
They're sort of robots, but even the gremlins don't fully understand tortodrones.
Anyway. That should have read "mated", as in they are mates. (and thus the spiral order would be able to preserve the species)
As opposed to mating at the very moment you walk by. Which, come to think of it, has happened at several zoos I've visited, and across numerous species of turtle. These could just be really realistic robots.
I don't know. :
