So I've got the Heavy Plate Set right now, and I don't know which one to get. One seems to have something the other doesn't. So, which one would you guys prefer? (yeah I know, a lot of people don't really use these)

They don't fit the same

They don't fit the same role.

Get Volcanic for a general purpose shield (the best normal shield in my eyes, but it's not that great since you can switch shields in arsenal to have the one that fit the best the situation).

On the other hand, Ironmight is the best piercing shield for gunners / bombers (swordsmen have the BTS).

If I was going for a non-sword T3 Piercing shield I think I would go with the Royal Jelly Shield. It has higher Piercing and will tank more Polyp thorns before breaking in T3.

Many would agree with Fradow on the VPS as the better choice because it is popular in FSC for taking Trojan and Vana mace hits.

Personally I would go with neither as plate shields are more suited (in general) for T2/T1 work.

Opps just noticed that we are talking about the whole set and not just the shield. I still feel the same why though, that Plate is not terrible useful in T3 compared to other choices out there (depending on your preferred weapons). Especially since Plate sets nerf your offense while other sets buff it.

Huh, I didn't notice the OP

Huh, I didn't notice the OP was talking about the set. While both shields are good for their niches, the Heavy Plate Set is bad in my opinion. Not only does it not have any attack bonus, it actually hinders you!

The additional Health on it is not worth it, really. SK is an offense based game, you shouldn't get hit that much. If you do, you must improve instead of relying on those few additional bars.

On the note of Royal Jelly Shield:

The main problem is people don't like to grind for recipes when they can get Ironmight or Aegis or BTS at HoH.

That's not to say the pierce boost isn't useful, rather the opposite.

I can get the BTS at HoH?

I can get the BTS at HoH? ...Or am I getting these acronyms wrong?

Whoops sorry, not BTS (I must be tired).

Main reason why all swordies have BTS is cause of its damage boost though.
