Seriously, we need a CE subforum. Then we could move all these neverending CE posts to that sub-forum. I realize most these CE newbs would blindly post it here not even realizing that there is a subforum, just as they don't search.

But i think over time, it'd clutter the main forum less, as well as spur on about 40-50% of these guys to click on that forum, and then they'd see the endless threads about it, and perhaps post in those, rather than think they are the only person to ever make a post whining about CE prices.

Also, i think a lockdown sub-forum would be nice too

A modest proposal

Yeah I think this is a rather modest proposal.

Oh but don't forget Blast Network will need its own too. Maybe one for each of the monster types, Bosses, and lets not forget Shadow Lairs!

And we need a forum

And we need a forum "Questions about gameplay" or something. Sometimes people have questions regarding game but they dont want to post them in new recruits forum since they are not new in game, and instead they post them i General Discussion where, just like the name says, should be Discussions about Spiral Knights, features, etc not just pure questions "hey i dont know xxx what does it do" etc.

Or maybe even renaming the "New Recruits" Forum into "Spiral Knights Gameplay questions"

Overly specific

I assume this suggestion refers to Lockdown/CE/similar thread subjects which have been repeated ceaselessly in the suggestions subforum; if this is the case, it can not be prevented because it is caused by whining and selfishness. If those two factors were removed from human nature they would not be an issue. Unfortunately not everyone can be an apathetic machine with complete disregard for emotional satisfaction or cake.

Though I agree the suggestion subforum could use further organization (enemies, equipment, et cetera) there will always be users too incompetent to recognize the differences and vomit their nonsense wherever they please. The problem with this is ambiguity or crossovers between concepts; a thread pertaining to a new enemy and relevant equipment, a weapon mechanic which may either be applied to a usable weapon or new enemy, et cetera. Creating sections for each kind of suggestion would mean creating new sections, though not particularly difficult, may not include all potential factors: equipment, enemies, minigames, adjustments, et cetera; there are many variations of this subforum to branch into.

If we are given these sections then responsibility to keep them organized is primarily delegated to the community which has had to order/instruct/other misplaced threads to their appropriate section. However, if we do get these sections then what would deter other subforums from having them? Every subforum would be sectioned until every possible idea for a thread will have its own section where an indefinite amount of the same thread is recreated until everyone transforms into birds and headbutts each other with golf clubs and tennis nets.

Instead of changing "New Recruits" to "Gameplay Inquiries" it could be a completely different subforum so new users have their own area to slap each other while everyone can gather around the campfire nearby to ask questions. The problem with the "New Recruits" section is the new users who try to go for the highest community they can find and pester everyone as much as possible to become better known; they want attention. In the suggestions subforum we know of several users who do this and are quickly shot down, but new users are constantly coming at an indefinite rate. New users can come over here to make suggestions and what not, but we do not want the generic fodder requests: "I want free stuff", "I want more money for less work", et cetera. To prevent this would require an administrator to come in and beat the stuffing out of their Thanksgiving turkey and/or throw the thread in the graveyard to rot. I personally prefer the stuffing part. If they come to create a real suggestion and not to whine, beg, or partake in such obnoxious behavior then there is no problem to begin with.

In the suggestions subforum we could use a legend to indicate the subject of our concepts: for each thread, in the title, a certain keyword will be used to indicate the nature of the subject. Example keywords:

Armor
Weapon
Enemy
Adjustment/Edit
Minigame
Puzzle/Floor Layout
Interface
Cosmetics
Energy

It would make finding a specific thread less complicated through the search function but relies on the user being competent enough to use the keywords and using a real title and not "New Stuff", "I want {X}", et cetera; and we all know how this would play out. Whether through filing or keywords this would prove helpful to organize concepts.

nah

its in response to random retreads in the generals discussions forum. CE that is. Like stated in oringial post, it would not fix the problem, but it would certainly curb the problem. And to the extent that it'd bring knowledge and curb the problem, it would definitely be worth it.

And as far as a Lockdown (okay, in response to the first comment) PvP forum, i'd like to see that, not to unclutter the general forums, but because PvP is such its own beast, that we really should have a dedictated forum for it. It would be a boon to the community, as well as PvP in general, to have a centralized place for knowledge, skill, suggestions, ideas, etc... to be garnered. its much better than having 15 very good lockdown threads buried in the main.

@ Luguiru

Wow, I would love to make your acquaintance. I admire not only the cogency of your points but also the colorful literary panache with which you present them.

Also, the problem with "new

Also, the problem with "new recruits" forum is that not much people have courage to admit they are new here, they dont know how to play so the word "new recruits" scares them away since they think that if they will post there they will look like a newbs, like they started game just 20 minutes ago etc.

I agree! But in all honesty,

I agree!

But in all honesty, we need a forum for CE whiners. It happens every time, and takes away from the good posts in General Discussion. Just title the forum

CE Complaints and suggestions!
where knights can express their views on the system!

But of course we all know what it REALLY is.

+1 to thread
