Burning Mats for Mist Energy

With the announcement of an auction house, there will inevitably be a race to the bottom in terms of material prices, because players bring up more 1-star and 2-star mats than the market will ever use. To keep the amount of low-level materials on the market under control, i propose that they allow players to 'burn' mats in inventory in exchange for a small amount of Mist Energy - say, 1-2 mist energy per star value of the material. This would allow players a tiny amount of extra play time without upsetting the energy market too much, and since one can never have more than 100 mist energy, players would still be required to buy crystal energy in order to do the higher tiers of crafting.

Thoughts?

But imagine... All of those

But imagine...
All of those Gel Drops and Gel cores I can burn.
I can have seemingly infinite energy.

Everything can be fixed with Math

If that were the case they could just adjust the conversion ratio down to something that doesn't allow players to play forever, like 2-5 stars worth of mats for 1 CE - but i dunno if that would be too huge of a problem, once players have exhausted their current stockpiles of 'useless' mats that they have built up over the last couple weeks.

agreed

it would have to be like 100 1 star items for 1 energy i think. Which sounds awful, but isn't so bad as compared to them being useless...except for you can already sell them to the vendor for a crown so i guess we already have this system...i don't know what's going on.

At that rate, you would need

At that rate, you would need to sell 4000 or so mats to make enough to buy 100 CE... which is really rather sad, but oh well. The difference here would be that you wouldn't need to go back to town to sell those mats, if you were short on energy for a gate.

I see plenty of folks who

I see plenty of folks who craft and resell items that use up low level mats on a large scale basis, watch the trade chat sometime. I realize that's a lot to ask for at the moment but as the number of UV crafter/sellers increases so too will the demand for low level mats and thus create a higher market for them.

be patient a bit yea? The game hasn't eve been out long enough to level a player base yet.

Create consumable items that

Create consumable items that don't cost energy to make, but let players burn some of those piles of Gel Drops to make Vitapaks or Poison Vials prior to entering the dungeon. That'd help sink materials more quickly.

I concur to SirNiko's idea.

I concur to SirNiko's idea. Pre Jelly Run, the players use a few overstocked mats to get low level vitapods and poison vials!

Already possible?

Can't you already sell mats to the strangers at the bazaar for crowns? Not sure what they are worth, but I guess 4000 0* mats would then net 100 energy on the market. Still certainly less than you would get selling to someone making UVs.

On the day that AH goes live,

On the day that AH goes live, yes you will see some people being jerks and posting 1cr lower than anyone else, and you will see enough people doing that to drive many materials down below 10cr per.

But as stated: Other people will be buying these materials up VERY quickly to spam UV attempts, more than do it now because their non-UV (and useless UV) items can be placed into the market for re-sale instantly. So within a week I am sure that prices on materials will level out and come back to roughly what they are currently. Prices for common UV attempt gear will take considerably longer to stabilize.

Every game that ever proposes to start up an AH gets the same worry-mongers. And it is never the long-term reality that the market suffers for ease of use.

You can't do this... Even

You can't do this...

Even though it would take a nice amount of time to actually procure 100 - 1 star items, the problem is, by burning them this way, you're making 100 things of crap worth as much as crystal energy (granted since its MIST it cannot be traded but that's the only thing).

100 shards being sold to the NPCs are worth a pitful 1cr so basically 100cr = 100 energy? Granted if you sold it to a player, you'd get much more, but really kind of broken, made even more so when an action house would come in since whatever's the cruddiest materials people can get their hands on for cheap they'll use to make mist energy. With this method, any item that approaches a price of 40 crs or less, would be worth buying to turn into mist energy(40*100 = 4000). And given how many gel cores and stuff people likely have, seeing a price like that on some items wouldn't be a surprise.
