Short story: I have AP undead v.high and a gigawatt pulsar a.s.i. med. outdamages it easily against undead. My entire life was a lie!!!!111!!~@!~
Argent peacemaker has disappointed me.
Of course, AP has lower damage, but more mobility, speed and a bigger magazine.
Any player spamming pulsar line deserves to be kicked out of the party.
No Jaroche. Every player spamming a pulsar deserve to have his brain offered to zombies after being overworked in a devilite factory and tortured by gremlins. Then, his corpse should be fed to wolvers, and make sure nothing is left by giving bones to a jelly squad.
Anyhow, I doubt that a Gigawatt outdamages an AP with undead v.high ... Perhaps damage per bullet, but AP fires way faster and reload less often. Not even accounting for the annoying Pulsar explosions.
It's kinda annoying in the RJP as a sword/bomber hybrid when the PUG hurls a Pulsar spammer in your face. They deserve to be pushed off the edge of Depth 1 in the Clockworks, straight into a SL, while weaponless (except for a shovel (Slime Slasher, anyone?) and a Stun Gun), without a shield and wearing the SK equivalent of a dunce cap.
Suddenly, they think it isn't such a bad idea to jump over the edge again, and pass through the heart of the Swarm, thus killing it (not the Shadow Lairs though - although keys are now 100CE each!) and then plunge straight into...
The White Space.
[Not saying any more, that would be spoilers.]
AP/Sentenza offer almost the worst mobility in the game, worse being autoguns and callahan. Why is it so? Because the clip is so big and the damage each shot deals is so low you are basically being slowed all the time if you want to deal somewhat decent dps. Right, you don't have to shot all the time but the same applies to other guns.
Er... It doesnt....
I've run around with +dam max on all my guns, Polaris and APvincluded. 3 AP shots deals slightly more than 2 Polaris shots worth of damage. AP has the benefit of a larger clip, while Polaris has the benefit of a larger AOE. If you mean Pulsars are hitting more enemies and killing large groups of them faster than AP... well duh. That's like saying a sledgehammer breaks down walls faster than a katana. That doesn't mean katanas are useless, they just have a different use.
@Jaroche/Fradow Believe it or not, some people know not to spam Polaris when allies are trying to use their swords, or are at risk of getting enemies knocked into their face.
"Er... It doesnt...."
Did you even read my post? Doesn't seem like.
There is a second impression (i have a Polaris now):
Argent peacemaker (undead v. high):
-in small rooms it is a blessing - it outdamages the Polaris easily, as the AP bullets deal the same damage regardless of the distance between me and my enemies;
-mobility is greater than for Polaris - reloads happen less frequently, therefore I can interrupt with a lesser chance of being unable to shield myself and to be slowed down by gun reloading;
-bullet velocity guarantees precision of hits;
-does not alter enemies' positions in any way;
Polaris (asi med):
-easily outdamages AP when one has to deal with clusters of enemies;
-useful charge; (*I frequently use AP charge, but I must not be targeted by any monster while doing so, also the AP charge hitbox is messed up and you cannot fire when while having something close behind you)
-shock is an added bonus, although I fail to notice any significant differences made by it;
-renders turrets completely defenseless;
Conclusion: Polaris wins FSC, AP pwns when you fight against KATs and other mobile enemies.
If you have some ASI, you reduce your dps by not emptying your clip.
@Traevelliath I know some people can use Polaris. But they are so few that chances are it's just another annoying pulsar spammer.
That's true, but if you care about having your shield readily available then its common sense to not empty your clip fully, and actually reloading with 3-shot guns will lower your DPS iirc. I'd have to run some tests (which I propably won't as I don't have too much access to a gaming pc) but from what I've experienced, reloading is generally slower than waiting after the 2nd shot for the animation of putting down the gun.
If you care about having your shield readily available, it's way easier to do with an AP because of that large clip.
And no, once you have some ASI, you actually improve your dps by using the full clip. Someone did the test, but I'm too lazy to search for them. And perhaps something changed since the general gun buff patch.
Shielding is one thing, not being slowed down all the time to deal somewhat decent damage is another and that's why generally one will use alchemers over antigua/pulsar line.
About the ASI thing, I think you mean the alchemers for which this is true but those aren't 3-shots.
Also, another thing is the quite awful charge (the length of the animation to be precise) and amount of clicking required with Antiguas.
The reason to use an alchemer over an antigua is that it does higher dps if you can reliably land the ricochet (and use the charge). The threshold should be somewhere between 25 and 50% of ricochet hits.
On the other hand, many people (including me) prefer to use an AP because its easier to use as a side-arm while dealing a very good dps. Whether you like it or not, the fact that it is 6 bullets per clip means more mobility and more flexibility. Because if when you do your shot-pause with alchemer, there is a probability you do it slightly too fast one time and get on the reload. AP doesn't have this problem quite as much. Also, AP can often hit 2 enemies at once (with auto aim off) which could skew the results in its favor.
Oh, perhaps for the ASI. I don't remember that much apart from what I already said.
Lets not neglect the golden owl of awesome please! I been thinking it would be kinda hawt to have AP/Sent max CTR combo recently. The bird is the word. It kicks up alot of high numbers when used right.

what´s the problem with spamming polaris?
i´ve seen that gun in RJP and is a bless...
PD : i´m a t2 noob XD
Polaris is... not team friendly
Polaris blinds allies, unpredictable knockback, unpredictable shock negating an already unpredictable knockback, makes Swordsmen's lives incredibly difficult (even worse for bombers), and generally does not work with any other piece of equipment.
However, what makes the Polaris so dangerous to teammates is that the user does not get any sort of direct sign of the harm he is doing. You can spam Polaris all you want and never take a pip of damage, but your allies will be suffering. This detachment causes a lot of people to mindlessly spam Polaris, without realizing how difficult it is on the party.
1. Put yourself between your teammates and your target, *then* you shoot.
2. Spam with taste. Fire a few volleys, then just put the gun down
3. Don't shoot if there enemies between you and where your shots expand. This will cause enemies to fly into your face and/or into your teammates' faces.
"Also, another thing is the quite awful charge (the length of the animation to be precise) and amount of clicking required with Antiguas."
A simple autofire macro solves all. I can help anypony with that.
Lukehandkooler - True. The pony fired from AP/Sentenza is made from sheer rainbow, candy, nutella and raw awesomeness.
"A simple autofire macro solves all. I can help anypony with that."
In case you don't yet realise it - using macros is bannable.
"""A simple autofire macro solves all. I can help anypony with that."

It can also theoretically get you gibbed if you get interrupted or need to cancel during the sequence...

"using macros is bannable." - autofire is bannable? But many gamepads/mice have those anyway.
You'd need to ask the support on this one. My bet is that it doesn't really matter whether you use hardware or software to cheat.
This kinda reminds me of the autofire/autoreload scripts for TF2, some people dreaded them and they gave an unfair advantage and in the end to make it fair Valve implemented those as features. Would love to see an autofire feature for Antigua line, maybe I'd use it more then.
And then the lockdown autoaim haters would starting complaining about that
"And then the lockdown autoaim haters would starting complaining about that" - because that is what complainers do. That being said, I fail to see how would it disturb the game mechanics in the LD. If you need to fire quickly, you do so. If you need to time your attacks, you do so as well.
And using any antigua line without autofire macro is a torment!

This.
Someday my right pointer finger is gunna look like Chuck Norris standing around with four other basement dwellers.

Pulsars flinch and deal higher damage, but Argents are great for faster enemies and don't cause knockback. Pulsar knockback is extremely annoying, so unless you use it perfectly people will hate you for using it.
