Antigua is spanish for Ancient and the name of an island...
Nameless Set refers to the "man with no name" who appeared in various movies like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

There are more, but those are the only ones I could remember from staring at my current loadout.

You know what? I think you might be on to something here. Nick and co. could be buddies with Ambrose Bierce.

The Snarble Barb's or one of the swords in the line uses the word 'snicker-snack,' and there's the achivement 'Frajabulous Day' or something like that for killing the Snarby. All references to the Poem Jabberwocky.

The Grintovec, Jalovec, and Triglav are all named after mountains. That counts are 3. XD

@Necrolord9000 and Psychoticdestructiveguy

Actually, the Leviathan is a great beast of the sea located in the book of Job in the Bible. It is recognized as a dragon for having scales so tight air cannot pass and the fire it breathes. It is said that when near the surface, the Leviathan is so heated, it can make surface water the texture of cream. It actually does not make sense why the Leviathan Blade is called the Leviathan, but whatever.

@Kraaaaanx
The Sudaruska and Khorovod are both old Russian dances. Khorovod's description actually says "Wielding it makes you feel like dancing.," so that's kind of funny.

As stated before, the Antigua means "old" or "ancient" in Spanish. The actual description says "A mysterious relic from a forgotten time. It uses explosive powder to fire its rounds." The use of explosive rounds relates directly to the bullet sound it makes, showing that the Spiral Knights are advanced further than using our guns. (You don't say?!)

Mercurial sets. Cobalt Armor. Vanaduke (Vanadium). Chemicals. Chemicals everywhere.

Angelic. Seraphic (A seraphim is a type of winged angel). Valkyrie (Maidens of Odin who deliver the souls of warriors).

Spiral Knights uses a lot of Chess and Cards. Pawns, Rooks, Queens and Royalty, Knights (And the Trojan head!), Bishops. Clover and Diamond.

Speaking of levels:

Wolver Den: Raving Rabids.

Also, the Callahan is very clearly a Dirty Harry reference.

Heavy-Duty: while I agree that those are references, I think they're too blatant or basic to really constitute 'nods' to anything the way some item descriptions or mission names do.

---
And Nightmare Mane and Celestial Ore sure as heck aren't MLP references, man. Honestly, look at their descriptions.

A coat of coarse fur taken from a Snarbolax. Each fiber seems to curl and fray as if life is still flowing through it.
An extremely rare metal of great power said to be from the heavens above. It is often completely wasted on crowns and jewelry for slime royalty.

It just seems far more sensible to me to assume that the names are using the literal meanings of the words 'nightmare' and 'celestial' rather than using them because they sound like a (n albeit well-written) children's show. Occam's Razor and all that.

In general: if you're the only one who 'gets' a certain pop-culture reference, it's probably not a pop-culture reference.
