Thought I'd say hi since I started a couple days ago. I don't understand much of this game yet, but I'm getting there. Would like to know if this community is a good one or not. You know...nice, okay, bad, etc. opinions I guess.

I've been mostly soloing so far, but I'm sure I can't do it for long. Maybe I'll join a guild when I know what tis 3-5* gear means...

The forums IMO tend to be a bit... hostile towards newcomers. In my experience, the people on the forums tend to be a lot more negative/aggressive than most people in game.

Well it depends. If you're not too dim (posting useless and or suggestions that weren't thought through completely or at all, starting "serious" threads that are completely irrelevant, start drama and so on) then there's a ray of light that you wont be treated as such. Otherwise, be ready for a whole world of rage.

You'll see a lot of "Wrong forums, move to [*Insert Appropriate Section Here*]"

There are also a lot of threads that are repeated several times over that people tend to react hostile towards. Off the top of my head, these topics include (but are not limited to)
- The CE price is too dam high!
- P2P or F2P rage
- Rage over the newest patch
- Love for OOO over the newest patch
- Dual Wielding
- Pets

Said threads happen a lot and constantly follow the same pattern. Even if the thread creator tries their best to avoid the common "stereotypes" of these topics, the threads will almost always drift to the same themes. Thus, people will almost immediately grow hostile to someone posting these threads, especially if they are new.

3*-5* gear

I like blowing stuff up. Get Bombs! They rock.

On a more relevant note, the "3 star to 5 star" gear issue, is the "star" rating of what you own. If you look at any item (including materials), in the tool tip it has 5 stars. If all are empty, you have there a Zero star item. If one is full, you have a 1 star item.... on up to if 5 are full, that's 5 star, and you can't go past that! Most armors and weapons have an alchemy chain, starting somewhere down the line and the best end at 5 star (which the exception being my favoritest bomb, the Radiant Sun Shards, which ends at 4 star). Tier clearance is different but related to star rating. Tier 1 (T1) is where you start. Traveling down the clockworks, eventually you hit tier 2 (T2) and then tier 3 (T3). Things get more difficult, and your items do more damage, as you approach the core (just past T3). Zero and 1 star is considered T1 gear. 2*-3* is T2. 4*-5* is T3. To get clearance and entry, you have to have two items (or more) of the correct (or better) tier rating to get in.

Hope that helps!

@Aquajag
No offense, your post was great, just I must correct one thing about it.

To get Tier clearance and entry, you must have a helm, shield, weapon, and armor of that tier.

A while ago, some idiot started a thread saying that F2P were all the problems in the game, and that they needed to go...God bless him. Hope he's okay :/

@Felikatte

That is indeed the problem, and those people tend to get raged at. I don't see yourself as being one of them, to be honest, so you likely won't be affected by this stuff.

I have pain in my little knight heart at seeing you say you will likely be running alone though. This is an MMO, and it is meant to interact with others. WIth that said, why don't you send me a friend request in game, and I can do a few runs with you. I'm long past end game, and i enjoy helping people with their missions. Also, I'm a pretty awesome person, even if i do say so myself.

Add me in-game, I help newbies (I mean that in an endearing way.... until they quash my days of younger knighthood before all of this newfangled PvP and mission system, anyway back to the post): IGN Golgomath.

positive experience

I've got a positive experience in the game, but got a lot of sarcasm here in the forums LOL. I kid.

I just started 4 or 5 days ago but I got on this kind guild where they accepted me as a noob and helped me throughout. I also helped myself by reading the wiki so now I'm improving :)

Whoah whoah wait. Whut's a reply feature? Quote feature?... Dog I've been on this forum too long....

But welcome!! :D I hope you enjoy your time here in this rabid and hostile land. I suggest keeping away from General Discussion where most of the rage/hate resides. Have fun in the other parts and definitley in-game :3
Oh and if you ever grab some Cheese(Light Shards) I'm sure we can sort something out #tryingtobuyallthelightshardshecan.

Have fun!
