I wanna know if the

Freezing Vaporizer-

Freezing Vaporizer MK2-

Freezing Atomizer-

Shivermist Buster

line is worth it.

Now, I know the Shiv is good for Vanaduke and FSC. But is it good for any other purposes? Should I use all those cr to craft the line?

Is it worth it?

yeah, if you need crowd

yeah, if you need crowd control. After awhile you find out that most FSC fights outside Vana don't need shiv to go smoothly. It really depends on skill level...

It's funny in LD if you happen to be on a skolver-free match. Or to control trojans.

use sparingly

I used to use Shivermist Buster heavily. But now that I have a bit more skill, I recognize that it is often counterproductive, because freeze hinders kiting, knockback, and shield bumping. SB of course great against Vanaduke (if the party is that kind of party). So it can make you much more desirable as an FSC party member. SB also helps a lot on those nasty devilite levels. Before stepping on a party button, and ideally before each wave of a big fight, drop a SB, to control half of the fiends on the board. Otherwise, it is rarely useful in the Clockworks.

It has it's uses. If you are solo and having a hard time, getting overwhelmed, it controls things. It also pairs up very well with other bombs. Like, using it when someone else is using a vortex: prevents things from getting flung as much, prevents mobs from spinning and thus from predicting where their attacks will fall, and they still stay all clustered together for easy sword and gun pickings.

Pairs also well with Voltaic Tempest. The shock/refreeze keeps them very tied up.

Personally, I don't usually bring it with me, unless I happen to know what else my team is bringing. otherwise I bring it only on fire levels, because I hate fire creatures. This way I lock them down a bit until they cool off. Not perfect, but helps.

Personally, Shiver is required in most of the Shadow Lairs (I say most, because Ice Queen clearly doesn't need it and Rabid Snarby potentially doesn't)

Not really

Contrary to popular belief, the Shivermist is a niche weapon. There are only a few places where it actually has any use:

- Vanaduke's throne room

- Devilish Drudgery

- Dark City

- Shadow Lairs except Ice Queen Palace

The only scenario where I

The only scenario where I would feel intimidated if I didn't have a shivermist would be against heavy tier 3 devilites.
Besides that it is an necessary bomb.

Just consider whether you can attack without getting hurt or not.
If you can avoid all damage when attacking, then use any other weapons.
if you get hurt when attacking (means you are not really that pro at dodging), use shivermist.

Hmm

A bad dodger who regularly uses Shivermist will not likely become a better dodger anytime soon

I think shivermist for a

I think shivermist for a beginner player is good. It's a good way to learn spawning times and attack animations and stuff like that. Shivermist is a really... iffy weapon... in the sense that it can really help you or really hurt you.

If you freeze in a kiting zone it can freeze enemies there and hurt your teammates and yourself. It teaches you to be more aware of your team and spawning patterns.

Just know, there comes a point you will have to learn to not use it. I used shivermist a lot when I first started playing. It was like my go-to weapon when I was in a level i found hard to do. Eventually I got to where I didn't need it for crowd control. The only places I use it is in vana and LD against none freeze resistant people. :D

It is worth getting if you feel the need for a little push to get you through the game, and for the LOLS in lockdown.

For beginners it can be a big

For beginners it can be a big help, but overall I've moved on from even using freeze at all.

In FSC it is useful for PUGs at Vana himself (not really useful in FSC unless you are trying to solo a trojan but even then that is pretty easy), since you never know who you'll be playing with. However, my usual party has completely abandoned shiverring Vanaduke. It started off not using shiv in phase 1, and quickly went on to not even bothering to waste time on it.

If you want a great crowd control bomb, pick up a vortex bomb. It'll group all the monsters together and if you get the electron version it also applies shock (maybe). Voltaic Tempest is a weak crowd control bomb, but it does slow down the monsters just enough to help while also dealing damage (potentially a lot if you get a large group in a small area). Pair a VT with a vortex and you have awesome crowd control dealing tons of damage before you even spawn the monsters.

As for freeze in the shadow lairs, I'm yet to play shadow vana or twins, but it isn't needed at all for snarby, and is obviously useless for ice queen. I'll probably feel the same about the other two shadow lairs.

With the recent buff to gun charge damage, a full party of blitzes can just melt Vana. But if some of the players are new to him, it can make the fight more manageable, if slower.

I want to say it isn't useful at all for shadow lairs, but there might be a few places in twins where it could be helpful. There are lots of spawning slimes that just get in the way, so maybe for that...

But mostly, it just annoys swordies. Gunners and bombers don't mind it too much, but there are better things you could be doing.

SUNSHAAAAAAAAARDS

Next it'll be the Vortex because "only noobs like hitting multiple enemies with a charge attack" and "movement speed decrease while charging kills it". Or maybe the Sentenza- "It triggers the Mender bubble shield" or "It was Shadow/Piercing before, and I still don't like it just because of that" and "It can't kill Vana". Or perhaps the Nitronome- "I only had HALF a minute to react to that Lumber" and "Normal damage sux and is fail".

Or- wait for it- the RSS! Because "It's stupid OP in Lockdown, Strikers should win every time" and "It's definitely important that bombers stick to bombing and RSS is too much like a gun". And let's not forget the HORRIBLE Ash of Agni. Again, "It can't kill Vana", plus "It sux against Oilers".

I'll use my Shivermist if I find it necessary. Of course, I usually prefer a Vortex because it's far more fun, but Shiver's definitely got its uses, especially in Shadow Lairs. (Besides Ice Queen, that is.) And if there's more stuff like Terminal Meltdown (with the Oilers and fire hazards EVERYWHERE) coming in the Danger Missions, I'll be using it far more often. It certainly helps with Trojans, too- the gunner can just walk up behind them and fire off a Blitz Charge.

the shivs usefullness

whenever I adventure with someone using a shiv everything is much more controlled. mobs stay in one place and gunslingers like me can pick off enemies at a safe distance without having to maneuver to avoid them. It has to be one of the single best crowd control weapons in the game.
