Ive been playing this game for about a week now and i came to the realization that we need better means of obtaining armor and weapons. I suggest that they add drops to bosses and mini-bosses, and allowing the group to "roll" on the item and whoever gets the highest number wins the item, (yes i know its copying WoW but its a good idea :) I guess it could be interfering with the CE market but i dont give a crap haha i dont like having to make all my armor and weapons because well.. everyone has the same stuff then, I want a lot more items added so that players can stand out amungst the crowd with their awesome shiny new armor they earned by fighting their way to the Boss/mini-boss. Another suggestion is adding more gates which will also mean more bosses. And the last suggestion is adding a vender that sells health potions.
Armor and Weapon Drops
Well you see, those tokens you get from the bosses...(only 2..? need more ) award you with terrible armor that anyone who kills that boss can get... back to what i said.. i want good armor that is a random drop( like WoW) that is rolled apon so that not everyone has the same exact look as me.. I want to be different from everyone else.. right now its a bunch of clones running around.
haha you always make me laugh.. you troll.. you have never said one smart suggestion is a good idea.. just shut up and get off the forum... usually the best armor is the best looking you idiot.. hense why everyone looks the same.. adding a greater variety of armor and weapons is a good idea because if you play a lot you will most likely have the best armor and for those other people who just buy their way into their crafted armor wont have the chance to get the armor and weapons that drop in the "dungeons". i dont know how you can argue with this but i hope you find a way :) enjoy..
Actually, what looks best is completely subjective. I see a lot of high-end players covering up their Vog Cub stuff because they don't like it. I myself cover up the armor I actually wear with a costume set, too.
You're suggesting a drop system that will create unnecessary drama, alienate many players, and cause even more showboating and elitism.
So, again, I state: Use costume slots to be a unique and beautiful flower, or get over the fact that what you like is what other people like too. There's nothing wrong with wearing the same thing as someone else, and if you really let that kind of thing get in the way of you enjoying your own armor(to a fault), you're the one in need of some re-evaluating, not the loot system.
(Also, you don't seem to know what a troll is.)
Whats the whole point of games like this? huh... to have the best armor.. well right now its way too easy to have the best armor because you can just buy it... it would be way better if you had to actually work for the armor by "raiding" and killing the bosses. Even if they do add the armor to the Token Venders i would be fine with that because you have to actually work for those tokens to save up for that piece.
This isn't a game about being elite and hardcore.
If you'd like to have the environment you're describing, WoW has that rather well-taken-care-of. This game doesn't have much of a competitive spirit, and it's one of the many beneficial factors involved in it. You don't have to be some hardcore jerkoff to look cool or have exactly as much fun as the next guy.
The point of the game is to have fun. The armor is just an outlet to do it, or possibly to expound upon it.
My concern is that the items dropped from the bosses would need to be low level, otherwise getting top-level gear would be a little easy to do as it allows you to avoid CE.
I'd love to see more gear in the game that offers a wider variety of options. Maybe decorative gear that grants special effects in Haven (Such as armor on which Snipes can roost, or something that lets you generate a personal spotlight as a unique emote, eg) or gear with really weird effects, such as bomber armor that boost bomb strength but renders you vulnerable to damage from your own blasts or a shield that is stronger than usual but only protects the front. Or maybe a shield that works like a Gradius style Option.
The difficulty of getting gear is just about right, I think. If it were much easier, there would be no climb to reach endgame (and really, there is none now - you can buy CE and trade for a 4* set right away).
what im saying is to have more variety of armor and have armor and stuff drop from bosses.. as in harder bosses than right now.. the jelly king being the only one right now is too easy to drop really good gear. But the part that makes it not so easy is the drop rate like in other online games. so in order to get the armor you want you have to go to that boss and kill him a few times cause most likely you wont get it in your first time.
Jelly King isn't the only boss right now, Vanaduke is considerably more complicated and challenging.
Maybe you should do a bit more research.
i dont need to research on the bosses... i already knew he was a boss but he still doesnt drop anything that great for being so hard.. i dont get why you can never see a good idea for what it is.. your the most negative person
I support many ideas that have been suggested in these forums.
This isn't one of them, because this is stupid. You suggest this purely out of your selfish desire to be more unique. But, the fact of the matter is that they would balance the rarity of these things so that it would quickly(very, very quickly!) become just as common as Vog Cub, while simultaneously making people more elitist, creating more tension amongst guilds, and in general, just making endgame more serious than it needs to be.
Getting the tokens to use on novelty armor provides exactly what you're asking for, and there are many sets that qualify as novelty. In fact, the Fang of Vog weapon from Almirian Seals(the Vanaduke weapon) is really only even remotely valuable as a display piece.
Also, I corrected you because you stated Royal Jelly was the only boss.
In addition, your suggestion of a vendor that sells health capsules is unlikely to get support, because there WERE health capsule vendors. Three Rings removed the health capsules from their inventories, likely because they made things fairly trivial - you could go into a tier loaded down on healing items and just be unkillable.
I agree. A boss battle should drop loot. Even if it's only 2-3 star, even if it's LIKELY everyone has something better.
Or, the boss battle could drop a slime related UV 'oil' that you can rub on gear to get the UV. Nothing end-game worthy. But if my helmet has no UV, then may as well rub low pierce resist on it.
I have an idea. Give all bosses the same chance to drop a random piece of equipment the same way Treasure Boxes apparently can. Then give all normal enemies one third of that chance. So if a boss has a .3% chance to drop a random piece of equipment, give any regular ole' enemy .1% chance. Just for kicks, give big enemies like Alpha Wolvers and the big spiky fully-evolved Lichens .15% chance since they're harder to kill, but also not bosses.
Hazel makes a completely true and valid point: people will always wear the gear with the best stats because it is the gear with the best stats. This game, unlike WoW, has a costume system to let you appear as you choose to if you don't like what the best gear looks like. The Ancient Plate set and Fang of Vog are exactly the items you seem to be looking for. They are big shiny trophy items to wear around and be proud of because it's a sign you killed a boss (a ton of times) to get it. If you don't like how the trophy gear looks, then find gear you do like. As Hazel said, if you have a problem with the gear you like because a bunch of other people wear it, or appear to wear it via the costume system, then it's not the game's problem.
If the issue is simply that you want the best gear to drop from bosses, that probably won't happen with this game. It isn't designed that way (it would actually kill the game's equipment balance, regardless of what kind of gear the boss dropped) and it probably never will be, to say nothing of the massive game balance and drama issues it would cause (which again, Hazel already pointed out quite well).
In terms of *variety* of gear... well that's not going to happen too soon either. Even WoW's gear mostly looked the same when it first came out. Not only is this game just as new as WoW was when all it's gear looked like crap, but it's much smaller than WoW, which means there won't be as much in the way of variety anyway. If you want a game with hundreds or thousands of options... it isn't this game.
It could be a good idea and be useful but if you get the armor and another player doesn't he would be pissed at you and you could just hide trough out the whole fight and take the armor when the boss dies so it wouldn't be fair to the other players and I don't think that sharing the armor or weapon to the team like tokens would be a good idea because it would be too easy.
And we still can buy armor and weapons with the tokens they give so I don't think your idea is really that great.
Terribad idea. -1. Do not want WoW-clone.
I think we have the general consensus here. If you want the very best armor to drop from bosses, gb2 WoW.
Also, if the very best armor dropped from bosses, wouldn't everyone wear that armor anyway?
Lol wow, I can't believe he called Hazel a troll. Hazel usually has pretty good ideas, and contributes well thought out counters to dumb ideas.
Also, as izoold said (and everyone was thinking), if you don't like the system for Spiral Knights, go back to WoW. I quite like the current system.
SirNiko has a pretty good idea though. I've actually been thinking about something similar myself. I think something that might be beneficial for all is a "costume shop." Kind of like what MapleStory has, but I'd say make the items permanent. Because I HATE the 30 day limit on costumes in MapleStory (and thusly, refuse to give them money to look cute). But it could cost energy, creating another energy sink, and it would be something a lot of people would want, if the "armor" was attractive enough. Personally, I'd like to see more armor that's like..."Look at me! I'm obviously a girl!"
The costumes wouldn't have to be "that expensive" either- each piece could be 25-50 CE. Maybe up to 100, if it had something special to do (like the kinds of things SirNiko was suggesting; or they could have the special animations/effects AND get stats for combat).
And really, the devs are probably working on expanding the armor choices already. Making models takes a bit of time, though I don't know if it would be much more difficult to implement into the coding. Plus, they're constantly working to fix bugs in the game, and right now they're working on getting a functional auction house. And they just released new swords. And even said that they plan on making something to complement them (which may or may not be new armor).
The game is relatively new, give it some time to add variety.
I don't really like the idea of a costume shop, especially at cheap prices. I think they should just add new armor which they're already doing. There's no real issue with coding in new armor models, they have the systems in place for it already. Making them takes time, though - especially when you don't get it perfect the first time and need to adjust a bunch.
I think that half of this idea is good - instead of dropping items to be rolled on, bosses should have some special item that has a low chance to drop, which is given to each party member. This game is all about shared experience and cooperation, so loot drama is not the way to go, but rewarding persistence to fighting a boss sounds about right to me. Some would argue that we already have this with the token system, but I think it would be interesting to have something drop.
Well you see, Both of the bosses (those being jelly king and Vanaduke) drop special tokens which can then be traded for certain armors and weapons, did i mention that whenever a token is picked up, all parthy members get it? This way, no one gets pissed at that one guy who won the roll but cowered in the corner during battle.
