So I'm a 5 star gunner and I have never bought a weapon slot upgrade before. Are those actualy useful, and if so when and where should I use one ? I mostly play FSC and my usual loadout is just polaris or nova with blitz and I do fine with only these.

If all you are playing is FSC, then yea, 2 slots is enough since all you really need to carry at all is an elemental and piercing weapon. Technically in FSC you could do perfectly fine just with a blitz and no other weapon.
However, if you like a little veriety (both in stages and weapons) then weapon slots work wonderfully.

FSC: Nova, Blitz, Vortex OR Valiance/Sentenza.
-Vortex because sometimes the best thing you can do is help the brandish users kill things faster. Also, Vortex then Blitz charge, with sufficient CTR, works wonders. Guns for jellies and wheel throwers.
RJP: Nova, Umbra, Ash.
-Ash kills mini jellies, softens up the rest, and sets up some nice kiting.
Devilites: Callahan/Nova, Polaris, Blitz.
-Polaris for clumps of Devilites, Blitz for the tougher targets including the occasional trojan.
Deconstruction: Nova, Umbra, Callahan.
-Hit a gremlin with callahan to knock down or interrupt healing, then finish off with umbra.
Candlestick Keep: Nova, Storm, Blitz.
-Blitz for the occasional trojan( good for zombies too). Two alchemers to avoid reloading and stay mobile against Kats.
Wolvers: Callahan, Blitz, Nova.
-Nova for the occasional lumber( or polyp). Callahan then Blitz works wonderfully against wolvers.
Three weapons allows you a more varied strategy. Four weapons is mostly just convenient. Allows you fewer loadouts and/or less time tinkering with your gear.

Though thoughts on what to bring where will vary, having a 3rd and even 4th slot as a gunner imho makes the game a lot more fun and interesting. For a regular loadout I like to carry one dps gun of each kind of damage and a bomb (or sword) that works well overall for the level or strata.
Vortex bombs seem to be the new shivermist in FSC but I will continue to use shiver because the vortex bombs greatly reduce movement speed, something I rely on a lot.
For FSC I usually bring AP/shiver/blitz/Polaris or Hail Driver. I would never consider bringing shadow damage there even with a fourth slot.

I say yes, but 3 weapon slots are REALLY nice. 4 weapon slots get a bit cumbersome and unnecessary at times, but 3 IMO is a must for tier 3 (or at least competence).

My dream set
Shadowsun set, swiftstrike, nova ctr med, AP asi high, blitz ctr med, damage bonus med trink, and ctr med trink. So u.got ctr max and damage max nova driver and blitz. Then AP damage bonus max ctr med and asi max , nova asi high and blitz asi high dream set for me well I hope u like my set but plz dont copy it if u already have it im jellyy of u :) add me hawaiiblood and help me make my dreamer set pm me and say abt the forum <3 hawaii
If you want to bring a Levi Blade or a Shivermist, then yes. If not, then meh.
