As you have probably all noticed, the CE prices are rising and we all want to do something about it. But what?

What I see happens a lot on the CE market is that if the current price for 100CE is 7700, people start offering 7800 to get their CE faster. This doesn't work.

The cheapest selling price of CE is about 7899cr, so still even higher than 7800cr, therefore if 7700 offers are not accepted, neither will 7800 offers (this only happens if someone uses the second tab of the energy market). One should just have some patience, and within 5 minutes the 7700 offer is accepted and you get your CE.

Now you might ask, why is it so important we don't overbid the highest bidder by 100 cr? It's because it increases the CE price by 100cr at a time. The new price will be 7800cr for 100 CE and suddenly someone thinks it is smart to overbid with another 100cr. Energy price will be 10k cr in no time.

So what SHOULD we do? I figured that bidding slightly less than the current energy price will actually still get you the energy, but not within 10 seconds. Luckily I don’t need my CE within 10 seconds, even if it takes like 30 minutes thats fine with me, since I do get the energy for less.

If we would all do this, and always bid 10-50 cr under the highest bidder, the prices would not rise anymore since there are only a few desperate buyers who need their CE instantly else they die. It would go as follows:

- Highest offer for 100 CE is 7700cr
- New offers are all put at 7650cr
- After about 10-30 minutes the 7700 offers are gone
- New energy price is 7650cr

And that will go on and on if we all can find the patience to wait a few minutes more on our CE instead of offering too many crowns in an attempt to speed up the purchase.

TL;DR:
- Do not overbid the highest CE buyer, instead bid the same or less and wait a few more minutes.
- Eventually, the highest offer will be accepted, and the new CE price is lower.
- Bidding more cr for CE does NOT speed up CE purchases; it only gives you your CE about 5 seconds faster than the offer below you (not worth it).
- Be patient

I have a better plan!

Why not just do that what u mentioned at the start? LET'S RAISE THE CE PRICES!
*farms vanaduke all day for more CE*

Cr is nothing in this game

To see how much gold you actually get from doing runs like vanaduke, is by calcualating it into CE, since CE runs the game. Raising the CE prices would mean you earn less from vanaduke. The price used to be like 3000-4000 a long time ago, giving you twice the CE for the same amount of cr.

People are already doing

People are already doing this. The people that demand ce now won't see your message. Also, crown supply changes constantly, but ce tends to be static unless there's a promotion. The price is rising because there's not much ce in the market.

:D

finally anybody understands the basic enconomics of the ce market

i appreciate that :)

bidding about 100cr more than the highest offers leads to gaps in the ce market
example:
current ce prize is at 7650
next guy bids 7700
and it goes on with 7701, 7702...

if you want your energy faster just quickbuy it but please don´t bid that high ;)

greets

Supply < Demand Amount of non

Supply < Demand

Amount of non paying SK players vs amount of regular SK players, the increasing popularity of Spiral Knights naturally widens the gap between paying and non paying players thus increasing the demand for CE.
There is NOTHING you can do about it.

I'm not worried about ce

I'm not worried about ce prices exploding any time soon. Unless OOO releases a *worthwhile* ce sink (which would be a terrible idea), the ce price has been and will be hovering at 7800 for a while. And unless you want to invest hundreds in real life cash at a personal loss, you ain't gonna change that.

supply < demand

I understand that if supply < demand, the price rises, but we all overpay for CE. We can just pay a little less every time, and still get the energy, it only takes a few more minutes. I don't believe that if we pay less for CE, energy sellers are going to stockpile their CE until we pay more again.

Alternative model

Supply of Labour (F2P) > Supply of Wages (P2P). Result: cheaper labour resulting in higher CE prices. (F2P has to turn in more CR to justify for your wage of 100 CE.)

This relationship could be reversed in the obvious way. Either decrease in Labour (when F2P exhausted their CR reserve or getting tired to farm FSC and move on), or increase in Wages (increase in CE circulation).
