I have fought the Royal Jelly countless times now.......
I was wondering what other knights think of him:
Is the boss:
easy or hard?
is it easier with friends
and finally,
do they like to battle the roarmulous twins, snarlbolax or the royal jelly them most (what is the funnest/their favorite battle)?
Royal Jelly Battle
To me, Royal Jelly is the hardest out of the 3 you have mentioned. Simply due to the fact that he can heal.
Snarby is pretty plain, nothing too special.
Twins is the most "interesting" to fight. Puzzles always make a fight more interesting.
On a scale of 0-5, with the gear i possess now, I rate them:
Jelly - 2.5
Twins - 1
Snarby - 0.5
With 3 star gear I would say Jelly is harder than roarm, since the twins are more puzzley.
RT IS SO MUCH MORE FUN THOUGH! Less headaches because it is darker! And devs upped the payout of RT for my F2P alt!!!! <3 devs
I'd rather do Rabid Snarby or something.
Oh my gosh I understand you T_T It's just that, even splitting the cost with them, the shadow key thing makes it not as profitable which shys people away.
Screw you shadow keys for making the fun stuff no longer fun!
I haven't fought the Royal Jelly in ages so I don't know how well I'd do against him now.
I really enjoy fighting the Twins, though it can be a bit time-consuming if they don't feel like lining up.
Snarby is a nightmare for me because he seems to get very snobby about what does and does not constitute being 'close enough' to the bell
Snarbolax is the only Boss I can fight without taking any damage. He is very easy... but what do you expect, he's a T1 boss...
Royal Jelly Palace, specifically Royall Jelly himself, is much harder.
SOLO:
If you are using guns, he is a little easier, but I can't seem to hit him consistently with a sword and not get hit myself. Which means that after only a few hits my health is low. His lunges are so quick sometimes that I don't even see them coming. Overall, he isn't that hard, and I can beat him either solo, in a party, or with 1 dead player in a two person party. All without reviving.
TEAM play:
Cake. (gelatin cake of course)
Mini jellies are my worst enemy, their attack is weak, but they can leap like a kangaroo! Jellies in general have very quick attacks, and that makes them tricky sometimes, mostly when your not paying close attention. Then when you get 20 or so mini's around you, it can be tricky to get away from them, and it can happen quickly.
Twins are much harder, to me, than RJP. Mostly due to the fact that there are so many variables, projectiles and enemies floating around, that it makes it hard to not get hit. Plus shock status sucks to get hit with. I have soloed the twins 3 or 4 times, and beat him ~8 times. Not too hard to beat, but can take some patients, mad skills on timing, or some luck. I don't normally have to revive, but every now and again I make some poor choices in there. My first solo attempt was laughable, but I have learned a few tricks to make it a little easier.
I'm in 4 star gear, FYI;
Helmet: Ash tail cap
Armor: Miracle cloak
Shield: Wise owlite
Weap1: Silent Knighblade
Weap2: Gigawatt pulsar
Weap3: Blackhawk/freezing vaporizer
Well I'm at the need 4 star stuff mission so hes the only boss i can really beat......
all i have is the 4starred ascended calibur........sadly my other stuff is 3 starred
He had a cool and hard fight once upon a time, now he just blows.
Favorite between these... I think I'm going with Snarbolax, although it's really easy, the bell-thing it's nice.
"though it can be a bit time-consuming"
Yeah, I died twice trying to do this. It was pretty time-consuming.
"Mini jellies are my worst enemy"
Yeah, I died twice trying to do this. It was pretty time-consuming.
My friends and I find Roarmulus to be more fun usually. Whereas the Royal Jelly is generally more of a "see whether you can do more damage than the amount he heals" battle, Roarmulus can be pretty laid back. I like the Roarmulus Twins fight because it's more of a puzzle than a brute-force thing, I guess.
That was a long video... Congratulations! I don't think I could beat the twins in 4 hours using only bombs!
Great picture too! That had to take some serious effort to get those to the elevator!
Those Mini's have become less troublesome once I started using my newly crafted CTR High Fiery Vaporizer (yep still 2 star), that thing destroys those little purple punks. I can't wait to upgrade it to Ash of Agni!!!
I'll agree that the twins are more of a challenge, but it's fun to see how many rooms of RJP I can get through unscathed. I have yet to do it without taking some sort of damage, but last night I did the first two floors while only getting hit by 2 mini's and one lumber (I backpedaled by mistake on the last arena part). I should do it in all 2 star equipment again, just to remember how hard it was the first time I played it and died.
"Snarbolax is the only Boss I can fight without taking any damage."
You can make any boss without taking damage.
@Ddffcz
No, that's him personally, not everyone.
By now, I think I can solo all three of the lower bosses without dying, through the entire stratum (maybe not the last room of the RT second floor, though - I hate mecha knights).
They're all pretty easy, when you get the knack. The Snarby has attack patterns - it isn't actually random. At the beginning, burrow once without floor spikes, then once with spikes, then spin attack. That's all I'm saying for now.
The RTs? Take a look at this. Rockets down the middle. Also, check this guy's channel out. He is seriously GOOD.
For the RJ, I just spam Tempered Calibur charges. Problem solved.
Depends, for friends. If it's a PUG it's normally harder (because I always have to rev them - once, a guy in 4* and 5* came down, complete noob (no offence to him, if he reads this post) who actually died most often of the party. Leveled up a Fiery Vaporiser to Complete from unused, no heat bonuses). For an organized group, it's easier. If I am in direct contact with another member of the party (ie. in the same room as them), it's absurdly easy.
I prefer the Twins. I don't get lonely, and I love not being mobbed every 3 seconds.
One time I tried to solo him (because I was bored of doing missions), just to see how epicly I would fail. but...
I won.
EDIT: I did this when I was still transitioning to 4* gear.
and I didn't get any pics or video :'C
easy.
I'll kill him with a Final Flourish and Blitz Needle if you want.
I do believe you meant Flourish and Autogun, right? :P Do that and I'll be impressed :D
@Meisduhbes
i think that its impossible, cause he restores more health than you beat.
It's possible now, I'm pretty sure. He only restores health when he "eats" Royal Minis, and Royal Minis come from the Polyps. If you kill the Polyps, there won't be any Royal Minis, so he won't heal. This makes it (theoretically) possible to even defeat the Royal Jelly with a Blast Bomb or something...
Earlier, he would heal at regular intervals, making it impossible to defeat him without proper use of vials/equipment.
@Ddffcz:
"You can make any boss without taking damage." -- I have no idea what you just said, let's work on our grammar next time.
Are you saying that anyone can fight any boss and not take any damaged during the fight? That's a bold statement. Remember; not everyone is wearing full 5 star gear. I have ZERO 5 star items. Of all three bosses I have fought: Snarby, RJP, Twins, all but Snarby have damaged me in every fight, and until I had full 3 star gear, and even sometime with 4 star, Snarby sneaks in a hit (you know the drill, ring the bell, and whack away. But sometimes he still bites, and I forget to stop attacking). Taking no damage is not an easy feat on any of the bosses.
Yes, it's theoretically possible to fight any boss without taking damage. Since most of us are human, though, this rarely occurs. Try not to take things so personally; I'm kind of sick of seeing flames everywhere, and I think the forum mods might be too.
I'm able to take down the Royal Jelly without having to use any vials or capsules, but I'll take a bit of damage. However, that's if I'm using an Umbra Driver, so the fight goes pretty quick. I could probably do Roarmulus without taking damage, though.
There are tons of videos about killing RJ with a snarble barb or proto sets already.
Since when is a question a flame? I'm simply asking the guy about his statement.
The emphases is there to emphasize what I want to say. I'm not yelling and using all caps or exclamations. The hard part about forums is that you can never quite tell how people are saying something. For example: Say what? is very different than: Say What!? or SAY WHAT!!!!??? Mine was the first example, not the last.
I'm a nice guy, don't make me out to be a punk, please. I never said the guy was dumb, or didn't belong here, and I didn't put emphasis on many key points that would have turned this into a flame. I thought I kept things pretty tame, apparently it didn't come across that way.
Part of the forum rage problem is that people get so bent out of shape at any comment that feels like a personal attack. As well, all of that knights friends do the same, and the whole thing snow-balls out of control until everyone is yelling, and Eurydice has to come in and tell everyone to call down.
@Ddffcz: Please accept my apology if post #18 came across the wrong way. I was simply trying to clarify what you said. If you re-read your post, you may see why I suggested a grammar check. No ill intent was intended. Apologies.
RT has rockets and a switch. Simple enough
Snarble has a gigantic bell that is established in several stages.
RJ has respawning turrets, healing minijellies, invulnerable rage etc etc. Never seen before, never seen again.
RJ is easy once you've figured out to beat him. Most people that fail at him do such because there's so many options.
With that said a 1-2 party can take him down in 2* gear by just using a shadow-tech and shield bouncing. In a 4 man party there's at least someone that is completely clueless and botches it at that star level.
For a T2/3* person, this boss is tremendously difficult to do first time, regardless of whether you've seen vids, read wiki, etc. without any more experienced members in the party. It's probably the most claustrophobic situation a T2 has faced so far and easily catches first time Jelly runners off guard.
Probably the hardest for them to solo and takes time learning how to, a lot more than RT.
For 5* folks on the other hand, RJ becomes a pushover, not to mention becoming the fastest boss to kill for miles. Where difficulty is concerned, weeelllll....5* people are more likely to get killed in RT than RJ (personal opinion).
RJP is... well, if you have the right kit, it's easy. Status bombs will help a lot, and a Faust or Toxic Catalyser will make the fight a breeze. Someone with the right 3* gear will be capable of doing this, especially if they get lucky with use item drops (poison and curse vials, as well as fire if it's around).
IMF takes a bit more skill. There are lots of tricks to make it much easier, meaning it's best if you have someone experienced on your team. The only difficulty I have with this boss is the fact that the rockets are lagtastic. :U A single charge of a DA is enough to move each twin into the next phase, so the Twins themselves aren't a problem. Managed to solo them with an Elemental Hood, Dusker Coat, Twisted Targe, Fireburst and Nightblade... although it wasn't the fastest run ever. xP
If I take any damage during a standard Snarbolax run, I consider it to be a failure.
The twins are the most fun out of the three.
(Oh, and Vanaduke often lags for me, resulting in being steamrollered into shadowfire. I'm still trying to figure out how to speed up my laptop.)
@Manalicious: The polyps respawn. Just so you know.
Do these, in any order you like:
- Do NOT delete System32, as trolls will tell you to.
- Run a disk defrag.
- Delete everything possible in the Downloads folder.
- Remove all other unneccessary files.
That should help at least a little.
What is a better sword in general: The avenger or the Faust? Also what one do you think will work best against thr Royal Jelly?
In general, it's down to personal preference.
Against the Royal Jelly? Definitely the Faust, as it does Shadow (=more damage, as the RJ is weak to Shadow) and has a chance to curse (=more damage if the RJ does anything). However, it isn't significantly faster, like the stats will say on the wiki.
Sklover set
Barbarous thorn shield
Combuster/Acheron
Umbra driver
CTR med for sword trinket*2
Any shield that's 3*, and not Skelly line.
Preferably one of the below:
Plate line
Bristling Buckler line
Owlite line
Defender line
Swiftstrike
Royal Jelly is ridiculously easy himself. All you need to kill the bugger is a status bomb. Depending on how competent your friends are, it can go much faster, or take a lot longer. As for your last question... I see almost everyone on my friends list doing the King of Ashes mission. All the time. I'd rather do Rabid Snarby or something.
