Probably GM avatars are
Probably GM avatars are programmed from the same class as normal knights. This gives them all of the properties of normal knights (such as death, inventory, energy count etc), so they rely on their gear for actual stats. If they take enough damage, they can also die. Come on devs, am I right?

actually, the fact that he burned makes more sense. They may have 9001 direct damage defense, but they still take damage from status effects, even if they have 9001 fire res.
they had some command that lets them die, and they timed it perfectly on a vana smash or whatnot.
