Its alot less squishy then the pelts of a dead animal, Yet you die faster in it... <.<
I do hope there is a change coming for it, a good one.

you are right... even the cobalt set is more useful, even so that junk is available in the hall of heroes... the heavy swords are the only salvageable parts of the heavy set, the rest... why OOO even made them?
one more thing, spiral order armors are basically power armor, so what this thing even exist? is just a hunk of metal...
In case it didn't hit you yet, normal damage was in the past much more common than it is now.
I had this set specifically in mind when I made my post on the Almirian Set, which is why I also pointed out that you have to pay dearly just to craft the darn set. With the Ancient Plate set, it's a straight buy from tokens. The Spiral Plate series is also a pretty distinctive-yet-generic series of medieval-themed costume armors, with each level having its own look and secondary color (I use the 4* mail myself!) I also get the 'old, antiquated, not worth your time' subtext--ironically, it works doubly since normal damage used to be a bit more common. It is a standard recipe outside of the Almirian Seal purchase of the Ancient Plate set, so the joke's on you if you snoop all the recipes in the Hall of Heroes and decide that is the armor you want for defense.
However don't get them to dumb this game down further and remove the ASI reduction.
Get them to compensate for that, like extra health bonus.
Since all things cost the same (other than shadow lair stuff), it seems like the items ought to be a bit more equal... As it is, there's a lot of stuff in the game that rarely gets used.
So are you guys saying that the spiral plate set is not good?
Pretty much, yes. Comparing the 5* version (Ironmight and Volcanic Iron) to other 5* sets, they are outclassed by the Wolver lines (Skolver and Vog Cub) since they offer basically the same defenses, but with an added sword bonus.
I have yet to see someone rock the Plate set at the highest level it can go.
i think plate line armors could be used as normal defense providers if youre using a piece of equipment that doesnt have it (drake line, divine set etc.)
but i cant actually see a good use for the full set...
I am new to playing, so what armor set would you guys suggest for someone who wants to be a tank?
The game doesn't really support tanking. In Tier 3, even the most defensive armor lets through tons of damage. So, if you're just taking hits, then you die quckly. Sorry.
Supposedly, the swarm in the shadow lair deals high normal damage. I've seen people bring plate armor for those runs.
In my point of view, this set is made to be a perfect guardian's set.
Like many of the good and PVP oriented weapons, it can not be bought from the Hall of Heroes (Voltaic tempest, Stagger Storm, DA, GF, ...)
But imagine the set lvl 10:+6hp , add it 2 +6hp health trinkets = +18HP (and Guardian:9hp = +27hp)
Might you add some useful UV ?
(And don't forget that Guardian is a UV low ASI Swords and Bombs)
Is this "tank" enough?
(>")> Hemsy.
Simply makes you a better source of damage in lockdown.
You'll just get all your attacks cancelled and die in 20 seconds instead of 10.
Armors definitely need a buff, but the Shields are amazing. Before I started over, it was to the point that I only ever hefted an Ironmight into battle, no matter the stratum, save for FSC.
I think a +10 health bonus to each piece would be nice. :]
With the whole damage is better than anything else mindset in this game, having a ridiculous amount of health in exchange for a ton of penalty seems fair. +10 hp on each set, and a vh/high asi decrease total seems like a decent trade.
+20 HP wouldn't even big that big of an increase in terms of T3 damage. Two or three hits at most.
If that would be overpowered in lower depths, maybe make it so each piece increases vitapod effectivity by 66%? With the full set, a 12 vitapod would give you 30 HP, but a 3 at earlier depths would only give you 7 or 8.
The vitapod thing seems like a cool suggestion until you realize it does nothing for the armour in Lockdown.
We've already established that this set isn't very preferable in lockdown, so this would actually be a very nice mechanic. Probably not easy to implement, but I would be willing to wait to see it happen
It's not practical.
Sure you'll have lots and lots of life, but when you grab a vitapod, it's 'empty',you'll need many hearts and avoid receiving any more damage to actually fill it up and enjoy it during a run. But wait, weren't you suppsoed to wear this armor because you're expecting to get hit a lot?
And if you can avoid receiving damage and end up with a surplus of pills and hearth to fill up your life, why use this armor in the first place? You're good enough to not need it's bonus.
tl;dr version
-If you get hit a lot, having more empty life bars from the vitapod wont help you
-If you can amass so much life and not get hit, why use such defensive armor?
It's always better to ask someone else's opinion, they're almost guaranteed to think of something you missed. Slight flaw in your argument though. It's not that we're not "good" enough to avoid taking damage, but that we're meant to be able to soak up a ton of it, letting out teammates focus almost entirely on attacking without needing to worry about defending too much, as all damage is being directed at you. However, as of right now, there's no way to keep a monster's attention on you and let your teammates attack it, as they turn to target whoever's doing the most damage (or whatever the targeting algorithm is for the average zombie) If there was some kind of "taunt" function, this play style would be much more viable.
We've already established that this set isn't very preferable in lockdown
And I don't see why we don't want to fix that.
It is considered a "spiral" armor and thus has a net total of 0 bonus (though volcanic plate works slightly differently)
