Exactly what it says on the tin. The Fencing Jacket has a higher Damage Bonus than the Dusker Coat (I am NOT kidding, the Dusker Coat's is Low and the Fencing Jacket's is Medium), but is it viable, or does its low defense weaken it far too much?

The bigger issue is low hp. I

The bigger issue is low hp.

I know for T3, a cyclps helm + fencing jacket striker gets 4 pips of hp...

Yep, Sypsy got it.

In T2, health is a big issue. Owning a Dusker coat and using it in LD is better, IMHO, just because you don't die nearly as much.
Also, it looks ugly with a Dusker cap, and costumes don't work in LD.

If you're really good (or your oponnents are really bad) then it may work. I dont think the difference is big enough to bother anyways.

2 triheart pendents will make

2 triheart pendents will make up for the health loss, but youll still have bugger all defense...not that any armour really makes a lot of difference (unless you have kickass UVs or something) you can still get cut to pieces by a tsb even in dusker and either way you have no defense against a hammer so, meh. If you're good go for it, if not do it anyway and let us know how it holds up :P

If you can avoid hits

Otherwise use dusker.

On the other hand when gunning in T2, cyclops cap make a nice helmet, as gunners you should be keeping your distance and not getting hit anyway.

It's easily viable.... I play

It's easily viable.... I play t2 LD with my gbreaker helm and quicksilver which have no special bonuses and I do fine =/ and I am not at all skilled <- just max your heart trinkets and play guardian. I'd definitely use it in t2 if it weren't so ugly. tbh t2 is a cakewalk with a lot of players being quite newbie-ish.
