A Chromalisk's Adventure

____________________________

Prologue

Lasko climbed up the bark of his tall home. He had been hunting for food for his family. His mother had been killed by one of those "Metal Giants" that come into their homes and murder chromalisks as sport. The only family Lasko had now was his brother, Oslak, and his father, Horon. Lasko crawled into the hole in the tree. Oslak and Horon had been eagerly awaiting his arrival.

"Son, you've returned. Have you brought any food for dinner?" Horon asked Lasko.

Lasko answered, "Er-well...no. The lumbers have been out again tonight."

"Lumbers!? Good thing you came back here. But that means we have to stay in here for a few days. Its too risky to go out there."

Oslak, being a young chromalisk, asked, "But we are fast. Those lumbers are really slow and clunky. Can't we outrun them?"

"Oslak, we can never be sure of their plans. Sometimes they come in groups."

BOOM!

Horon scrambled over to the opening of the hole. He peered outside and noticed a particularly large lumber smack a fist into a baby wolver. It got smashed into the ground. Horon felt a tear fall down his cheek.

Then, suddenly, seven wolvers popped out of the ground! They surrounded the lumber. Two pounced. Five scratched it with their claws. The lumber made a clanking noise as all seven wolvers jumped on top of it. Horon watched as the lumber tilted to one side, then the other, then fall flat on its face. The light in its eyes slowly diminished. The wolvers scurried away from the carcass as another boom resounded.

"Yes, like I said, it is very dangerous out there. I don't want either of you two boys going out there for a couple of days. I will go out for our food."

Lasko hurriedly said, "But you could get hurt!"

"Lasko, trust me. You are to stay put while I go out for dinner. Am I clear?"

"But-"

"No."

"Fine. But promise me you will stay safe," Lasko defeatedly said.

"I promise."

Lasko and Ozlak said their goodbyes and watched as their father cautiously crawled out of the hole. He scuttled behind a tree. Then another. Lasko could tell he was taking extra precautions because of the lumbers. He watched as his father walked out of sight.

Lasko waited three minutes before saying to his brother, "Stay here. I'll be right back."

Ozlak quickly asked, "Where are you going?"

"Just to see if father needs any help. I'll be back really soon."

Lasko followed the same footsteps his father had taken. He walked for a while before he saw a chromalisk up ahead. His father was inspecting the grass for footprints. Suddenly a furry creature more than two times his height appeared from behind a tree.

"Kranzaa!" the creature screeched.

Several more of those strange creatures came out from behind other trees. Following them came three lumbers. They surrounded Horon.

"FATHER!" Lasko shouted.

"LAS-"

His voice became muffled. He was going to die! Lasko hurried as fast as he could to save his father from certain death. But a lumber barred his path. The lumber pinned Lasko against a rock wall. It lifted its arm to smash him and Lasko knew it was all over. He braced himself and- nothing. A metal giant had run over and sliced the lumber in half. It crashed to the ground.

Three more giants came out and fought off the remaining lumbers. Then they rounded on the furry creatures. They killed all of the invaders but two. But it was too late for Horon. One monster bagged him and the other helped run away with the bag. The ducked into a hole and the giants couldn't reach them. Once they had realized they were done with those creatures for the moment, the giants noticed Lasko huddling in the corner of the rock.

One reached down and lifted Lasko up.

"Aw..it looks frightened," one giant said.

Another quickly said, "Put that down!"

The first giant repeated, "Put it down? But it doesn't look like it will hurt us. Look, it is really scared of us."

"Its dangerous, Lydia."

Lasko could only understand their words because he was not like other chromalisks. His mother had been half chromalisk and half gremlin. Because of this, Lasko had gotten the gift of being able to understand many different languages. Sadly though, he was never taught Gremlish. Lasko had yet to even see what a gremlin looked like but he supposed they were another nice race like chromalisks.

A third giant, who looked to be the leader, told the other three, "Go secure the area for more gremlins. We want to make sure the area is safe before moving out."

He continued, "Harold, stop arguing with Lydia. Let her keep the chromalisk if she wants to. It doesn't look like it can do much harm."

Lasko hadn't listened to that last part. The first sentence the leader had said had put him to thinking. When he had said "Go secure the area for more gremlins," a new idea had dawned on Lasko. Did that mean gremlins were those...furry creatures? His grandfather was a gremlin. He couldn't believe it. His ancestor was one of those...Monsters!

Lydia said to the leader, "Thanks Eric."

Lasko just realized, that giant was going to take him from his family. But what about Ozlak? Lasko couldn't let him try to survive alone. Lasko decided to tell the strangers that he needed to stay.

"Greep! Meep fleep!" he said.

In Lasko's mind, he had said "Put me down! I need to stay for my brother!" But the giants had understood it as "Greep! Meep fleep!"

"It looks like he's trying to tell us something," Lydia pronounced.

"Who cares? Its just a stupid monster," Harold challenged.

Lydia replied, "Don't say that. What if you were in his spot?"

"HIS spot? You assume its a male? You think monsters have GENDERS?!"

"HEY. Stop it right now, Harold," Eric shouted.

Harold walked forward, in a sulking manner. He looked as if he was ready to slice Lasko in half. Lasko retreated further back in the hands of Lydia. Her hands felt smooth and warm against the bitter cold wind.

Eric demanded, "Lydia, put that chromalisk somewhere in your pack. Damien, go scout ahead."

"Roger that sir," the final giant said.

Damien ran ahead. Not more than ten seconds was he gone when he came running back with all his speed and power. He was making a hand signal to run. And suddenly the other three saw why. Six lumbers rounded a corner followed by twenty wolvers.

Eric yelled, "Stand your ground!" He pulled out what looked like a stick coated in fire at the tip. Three wolvers came at him and in one fluid motion he stabbed them all. Damien put on his recon cloak and sneaked behind one of the lumbers. He took out a sword with a holy aura about it and with one swing smashed the lumber to bits.

Lydia grabbed a gun from her belt. Eight wolvers came rushing towards her. She hurriedly charged up the gun and let loose. Almost 30 bullets shot out from it and all the wolvers lay on the ground, dead.

Three lumbers started coming towards Harold. He took out a bomb and froze them. He froze them again and again. Then a lumber, still frozen, pummeled Harold in his side.

He shouted, "Screw this!" and pulled out a gigantic hammer.

"Eat some of your own medicine!"

He smacked it into the lumbers with one swing and all three fell on the ground, destroyed. The remaining two lumbers charged towards the group together, but five wolvers pounced onto them.

The other four wolvers ran towards the party. Lydia and Eric easily dispatched of them. The group watched as the five wolvers brought one lumber to the ground and the other smashed them all into the wall. One lumber was left. Suddenly Damien appeared beside the lumber and smacked his sword into it.

"There we go," said Eric. "Lets get to the elevator."

The party walked over to the elevator as Lydia slid Lasko into a pouch on her pack.

Eric told the party, "I'm going up, you guys?"

In unison, Damien, Harold, and Lydia all said, "Me too."

They all stepped onto the lift and Eric pressed coordinates on a screen. The elevator shot up towards the surface.

"Those giants..they seemed to be...knights of some kind," Lasko thought.

And then he closed his eyes and listened to the whir of the elevator.

Something about his boss saying along the lines to use the findings to conjure a way to sabotage corporate competition. And Triav doesnt like it one bit. Hmm...

@Trobolta
Ok I like the character but he won't be in the book for a little bit. Because basically the place there all in now is the Aurora Isles and Devilite offices are far from here.

Traiv will appear. I'm not sure how large his role will be or how long he will be in the story yet, but he will enter it.

Yay my turn. Name:

Yay my turn.

Name: Ryuk

Species: Snarbolax

Gender: male

Age: 3 (of course, still a toddler)

Bio: His parents died fighting against a single tier 3 knight. Ryuk fled and, although only a baby at the time, vowed to kill that knight. He wandered the Clockworks and stumbled upon a Gremlin fortress where Tinkinzar just happened to be at. Since they both wanted to kill the knights, Ryuk swore to Tinkinzar that he would serve as a scout for the Gremlins in exchange for the gear to help kill the murderer of his parents. Now Ryuk has state of the art armor and weapons.

About: has a craving for sweets. Because he uses his brain so much, he doesnt get fat no matter how many sweets he eats. He is very smart although he is a toddler and is very nice to everyone. He is usually harmless as a butterfly, but if he feels that either his friend L or himself is threatened, he will get edgy and openly aggressive.

Pets: has a tiny Kleptolisk baby that he carries on his belt.

Expendability: not much, but i guess if he has to, then he can die in a last stand against the knights.

Gear: usually has a white belt on his hip, where his friend, a Kleptolisk named L sits. Has red battle claws and an obsidian jetpack.

(P.S. Ryuk's battle claws can inflict extreme fire and curse damage, along with a slight chance of poison. The claws are formally called "Styxian Battle Claws" in honor of the greek river styx, but Ryuk just nicknames them "Muteki" the japanese word for Unstoppable Claws.)

The Story is OP

I just wanna say, amazing story, I love it please come out with more ASAP! The suspense is killing me, so as to help you here's my own app!

Name: Jane

Species: Wolver

Gender: Male JK LOL! of course Female XD

About Your Character: A Wolver that finds mindlessly killing everything in sight a bit dramatic, and hides away from other Wolvers. She Loves to take care of small, cute and innocent looking creatures of any kind (except construct, and devilites, they scare her) she shows a different side when shes around them, usually shes all like 'dull'.

Biography: Was raised as any other Wolver, but here parents guarded her by her side for many years, but she secretly spied on knights, as she was fascinated by them yet disgusted at how they kill every living thing that passes by. Her Parents did the same though, makin her angry that no one understood her, so she ran away.

Pets: None, but she does have a collar made from grass that has a carved out wolver on it, who carved it? uh, er... gremlins did (maybe a character you can add)? And she has the occasional monster she cares for, but she always releases them when they can live on their own (you mgiht want to add a character that wants to stay with her)

Expandability: What does this mean?

Gear: Nothing but her natural Wolver skills, but the same 'thing' that made here collar gave her special claws, that are stronger than standard, but she never uses them.

@Trobolta
Oh, I see what ya mean. Maybe Traiv will come in sooner than I thought. :)

@Kaijuhunter
Hmm, I'm not sure where a snarbolax who wants to kill knights would end up. Ok, I'm gonna mail you some of my ideas for it and we'll talk about it.

@Hexlash
Glad to see you enjoying the story.
I like the wolver idea. Images of how she can get into the story are already forming in my head. Expandability means whether you would care if your character died or not.

Chapter One

New Surroundings

Lydia walked straight from the elevator to a large arch-doorway. She walked through it. Lasko couldn't believe his eyes. He saw tons and tons of the knights (He had grown accustomed to calling them that now). All huddled around a big hut.

"Darn it! I was out bidded on my twilight aura!" one knight shouted.

A barbecued wolver walking on its hind legs yelled, "Ha! I'm so gonna get this Glacius!"

Lasko realized that the wolver was one of the knights. They had barbecued a wolver and made armor out of it. Lasko could almost cry. Then Lasko noticed a knight with green chromalisk armor. Lasko almost exploded with anger and hatred. He jumped out of Lydia's pouch and scuttled over to the knight.

"I think I'll call you Scales. What do you think of that?"

Lydia looked down at the pouch and saw Lasko wasn't there. She looked to either side and spotted Lasko running after a chromalisk armored knight.

Lasko jumped onto the knight and started biting him. Lydia ran over and pried Lasko off of the knight and apologized.

A knight clad in snow wolver armor came over and said, "Why would you bring a chromalisk into Haven?"

"He's a young chromalisk. He's my pet. He won't try to hurt anyone," Lydia answered.

The knight who had been bitten shouted, "You think it won't hurt anyone? Are you BLIND?"

The snow knight agreed, "Yeah! Take that thing out of Haven now."

"No. He will stay in my pouch now."

The chromalisk knight explained, "What about it's family? Your gonna take it away from its family?"

Lydia answered, "Oh...that explains why he was so scared when I first found him. I'll have to take him back to that Aurora Isles depth."

Lydia started walking back the way she had come. Lasko heard one of the knights snicker, "Some people. Not right in the head."

Lydia stepped walked back through the archway. She strolled over to the elevator and pressed coordinates to descend to the Aurora Isles, where Lasko was from. The lift slowly started going down. When the lift stopped, Lydia was in a place much different from the Aurora Isles. She had accidentally pressed the coordinates for the Devilite Office Buildings!

She was not equipped properly for the fiends that lurk in this depth. Suddenly, five devilites came from what looked like mid-air. Lydia's gun hurt them a lot but they hurt her more. The devilites surrounded Lydia and started gnawing on her leg. She fired her gun. All of them died. But Lydia's leg felt like it was on fire. She fell onto the ground.

Lasko escaped her pouch and started walking away. Then he turned around and looked at Lydia.

"Bleep, heep. Deep, deep," he said.

Lydia replied, "Go on without me." A tear left her eye.

Lydia felt a surge of pain spike up her leg. "AIYEEK!" she screamed.

Lydia began sobbing. She knew it; she was going to die. She was gonna die. Her eyes turned milky white and her head pressed down against the floor. Lasko could cry. Lydia had been nice to him. Even though she had taken him from his family unintentionally, she had been nice to him. Lasko was going to walk away when a devilite came flying from the sky and landed on top of him.

"Um, er-hello?" the devilite said.

Lasko retreated back onto the elevator. It wouldn't move. He started panicking. The devilite came closer to Lasko.

"I'm not gonna hurt you. I've just created a catapult. Ha. Another way to get away from my boss. Name's Traiv."

Lasko said shyly, "He-he-hello."

The devilite quickly asked, "Wait. What are you doing here? This is nothing like the Aurora Isles."

"I...I've had some run-ins with knights. That's how I ended up here."

"Are you planning on leaving?" Traiv questioned.

"I expect to. But I don't know how."

Traiv said proudly, "I know a way out!"

"Can you show me it?"

Traiv answered, "Of course. Follow me."

Traiv began walking down a long, narrow corridor. Lasko followed him. Together they walked through several rooms, one of which had an open door. Lasko couldn't help but take a peek inside. What he saw scared the living daylights out of him. Eight devilites surrounding a gigantic horse-man. Saying incantations like, "Hoon Ra Fern Ley Ro!" Lasko quickly looked away. The horse-man's dark essence seemed to draw him in.

Traiv and Lasko approached a large wooden door.

"Beyond this door is the entrance we devilites use to go to and from this office building," Traiv explained.

He pushed open the door. Both of them walked through it. They entered a shadow jungle. Devilites flew here and there. Traiv led Lasko through the crowd and out another door on the other side. They had entered what was an actual jungle now.

"These are the Gloaming Wildwoods," Traiv said. "That door always sends us to where we have to go."

"So, do the Gloaming Wildwoods lead to the Aurora Isles?"

"I would expect," Traiv agreed.

"Are you coming with me?"

Traiv replied, "Hmm...If you'll have me, I might. I never have much fun in the office, and my boss yells at me all the time for slacking off."

"Ok! Well lets get going," Lasko decided.

Together, they walked into the maze of trees.

Well ... for some reason i felt that this was a rather below my standards. It's kinda rough where you essentially just dropped a bridge on Lydia.

Chapter Two

Life is Renewed

Lydia woke up in a white room. Everywhere she looked, there was white. She started exploring her strange surroundings. Suddenly, a voice said in her ear, "Welcome."

She whipped around and saw a figure clad in white from head to toe. It had wings flowing out from its back.

"I am an Angel of Light. You have recently died," the figure said. It was staring at her intently, as if trying to read her expression.

"I am..dead?" Lydia asked.

"Yes, you were killed by devilites. They surrounded you and bit off everything from your leg."

Lydia commented, "Gruesome."

"Indeed," the being of light agreed.

It was all coming back to her now. Lydia remembered finding a little chromalisk cowering against a rock wall in the Aurora Isles. She remembered it attacking a knight who had killed one of its ancestors. She remembered telling it to go on without her right before she died. She remembered feeling a surge of pain and her last sight; her chromalisk walking away. It was almost as if it had understood her. It had been trying to communicate but didn't know the knight language.

Lydia thought about all of this for some time, then asked the angel, "Where am I?"

"You have entered the Land of Light and Hope. All things that are good belong here," the angel explained.

Lydia wondered, "Is there a way to get back to my home?"

"You have died. There is only one way to leave this place. By talking to the lord of all of it himself."

"And who is that?" Lydia asked.

"Lord Vanaduke. Follow me to meet him."

The angel glided down a very long hallway. Lydia struggled to keep up. They traveled down the hall for some time; until the angel stopped. A door rose high above them. He pressed his hand up against a mold in it. Gracefully, the doors creaked open. Inside, a large man with a long white robe welcomed them.

"Hello. Welcome to the high heavens. I am Lord Vanaduke," he said.

Lydia couldn't believe her eyes, "But, I thought you were evil!"

"You must be thinking about my husk of a corpse, all the remains that are left of me on Cradle. When I transformed into that evil being, a part of my soul escaped. This is where it escaped to."

Lydia understood, but still she said, "I cannot stay here as you have. There are many people on my planet. I have to go to them."

Lord Vanaduke's soul nodded his head. "I agree. You must go to them. I will send you down to your land, but promise me, you shall do good as often as possible. Understood?"

"Understood."

Lord Vanaduke raised his hands and shouted, "I send thee to the land of her ancestors! Oh Reloj Faren Kahn!"

Lydia saw Vanaduke smile before she woke up from her dream.

Lydia shot up from her bed in the medic's house. "Where am I?" she asked.

A tall knight with a divine set turned around.

"Your...alive? Your alive! YOUR ALIVE!" he excitedly shouted. "Lydia's ALIVE! And ALL it took was 20 health pills!"

He looked down at her and questioned, "Wait, what? You have been dead for the past thirty minutes. How in Cradle are you alive?"

"I expect I'm a better medic than I thought!" he continued.

He ran out of the room. A couple of minutes later he came back. "Lydia, you must stay in bed while we sew your leg parts back on. Might take a couple of days..."

With that he gave Lydia a bottle filled with a dreary substance. It made her tired just looking at it.

"Drink this Sleep Vial. Then we can begin work."

Lydia downed the whole thing and in an instant, she fell into a deep sleep.

I am 'dying' from this story

It's all so amazing! The plot, the sudden twists and turns, the burst if humor here and there! I LOVE IT! I could really learn a thing or two from you, and the Lord Vanaduke part was like *facepalm* it makes sooo much sense! Also what I realized is u meant ExpENDability, not ExpANDability! LOL well, Jane would probably die protecting something she cares deeply about, other than that, she's extremely vigilant and shouldn't die that easily, so she would probably die a hero's death.

My Character

Name: Ratchet

Species: Gremlin

Gender: Male

About Your Character: Wary and attentive of everything around him, treats those he does not trust with caution and disdain but would take the brunt of the worst attacks if it meant keeping those he trusts safe.

Biography: From a very young age, Ratchet was trained to be a fighter, as was expected from members of the prestigious Darkfang clan. Being trained as a Thwacker, he learnt to take orders and follow them, never doubting them. However, when he was still a juvenile he was made an outcast because he did exactly the opposite. When the Knights arrived, he was sent on frequent missions to slaughter them, but on his last mission at Ironclaw Munitions Factory(He was still too young to be a full Darkfang Thwacker, but skilled enough to be an Ironclaw one), he looked into the eyes of a dying Knight and saw fear. The fear that contradicted all his beliefs of them being emotionless animals that killed off all other beings just for the sake of doing so. Ignoring his squad's commands, he took the knight and escaped the area, hiding in an abandoned supply room. There he learnt about the Knights' perspective of monsters, and that caused him to start thinking more about the conflicts occuring all around him. For his acts, it was inevidable that he be banished from the Kingdom, and he sought refuge from the Emberlight community. There, he learnt more about knights and even monsters, working at Emberlight Adoption Agency. He also learnt how to use knight swords, being a Thwacker before aided in his training, but kept him from using guns and bombs effectively. AHhhh! I suck too much to continue this.

I'm SORRy. I suck too much to continue this story. But I'll give the basic story. The gremlins kidnapped Laskos dad. Once Lasko gets to his brother, they both go to save their father, killing gremlins along the way. They save their father but the gremlins go on a rampage and attack Haven. In the end, Haven just barely remains standing. Lasko's family goes back to their home.

Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
